Pittsburgh Penguins at Philadelphia Flyers
6 p.m., Xfinity Mobile Arena
Spread: Penguins +1.5 (-190), Flyers -1.5 (+160)
Total: 5.5 (O -125, U +105)
Moneyline: Penguins +135, Flyers -155
Penguins +1.5 game spread (-190): The Penguins are perfect on the puck line as road dogs (4-0) and the Flyers are perfect on the money line as home favorites (3-0) ... something has to give. We'll side with the overall results on the season, where the road dogs on the puck line have a 70% success rate compared to home favorites on the money line at 60%. --Allen
Calgary Flames at Toronto Maple Leafs
6 p.m., Scotiabank Arena
Spread: Flames +1.5 (-155), Maple Leafs -1.5 (+130)
Total: 5.5 (O -120/U Even)
Moneyline: Flames +165, Maple Leafs -190)
Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 shots on goal (+135): Coming off the Flames' much-needed second win of the season, and scoring in his past two contests, Kadri is poised to perform with a little extra pep in his step when he visits his former team Tuesday. For the number, four shots feels like a fairly light ask, particularly considering the ex-Leaf launched six on Toronto's net at their last meeting in February. --Matiash
Vegas Golden Knights at Carolina Hurricanes
6:30 p.m., Lenovo Center
Spread: Golden Knights +1.5 (-215), Hurricanes -1.5 (+170)
Total: 6.5 (O +110, U -130)
Moneyline: Golden Knights +120, Hurricanes -140
Brayden McNabb total blocked shots Over 2.5 (-175) : Opposing defenders have blocked 16.3 shots per game fired by the Hurricanes, which is the second most in the NHL. McNabb is not your average shot blocker, averaging 3.56 per game and leading the league with 32 headed into the Frozen Frenzy. Betting on three is a tall order for any other defenseman, but not McNabb against the Canes. --Allen
Columbus Blue Jackets at Buffalo Sabres
6:45 p.m., KeyBank Center
Spread: Blue Jackets +1.5 (-265), Sabres -1.5 (+190)
Total: 6.5 (O -105/U -115)
Moneyline: Blue Jackets -105, Sabres -115
Tage Thompson Over 3.5 shots on goal (-145): Firing on net five times in each of his past three tilts, the Sabres top scorer ranks fifth in the league with 4.11 shots/game. Across the ice, the Blue Jackets sit third from the bottom in allowing 32.0 shots/contest. While there are other more robust offers available numbers-wise, this play is too attractive to overlook. --Matiash
Anaheim Ducks at Florida Panthers
7 p.m., Amerant Bank Arena
Spread: Ducks +1.5 (-160), Panthers -1.5 (+135)
Total: 6.5 (O +120/U -145)
Moneyline: Ducks +160, Panthers -190
Cutter Gauthier total shots on goal Under 2.5 (+120): While Gauthier is averaging a torrential 4.75 shots per game this season, the Panthers are stifling to opponents, limiting opposing forwards to 17.0 per game (second best in NHL) and top-six forwards in particular have averaged only 1.65 shots against Florida. --Allen
New York Islanders at Boston Bruins
7:15 p.m., TD Garden
Spread: Islanders -1.5 (+170), Bruins +1.5 (-215)
Total: 5.5 (O -125/U +105)
Moneyline: Islanders -135, Bruins +115
New York Islanders -1.5 (+170) : Following a disheartening 7-2 beatdown in Ottawa the previous evening, the Bruins project to start Joonas Korpisalo -- 1-3, .845 SV%, 4.03 GAA -- against the red-hot and well-rested Islanders. Don't look now, but Patrick Roy's crew is averaging more goals (3.75) than any other team outside of Pittsburgh and New Jersey. As for an agreeable player prop, Jonathan Drouin Over 0.5 Plus/Minus (+135)
strikes a positive note, since the veteran forward leads his club in that department at plus-6. --Matiash
Tampa Bay Lightning at Nashville Predators
7:45 p.m., Bridgestone Arena
Spread: Lightning -1.5 (+150), Predators +1.5 (-180)
Total: 5.5 (O -130/U +110)
Moneyline: Lightning -165, Predators +140
Total goals Under 5.5 (+110) : All the results so far this season line up with this over/under line. While the Lightning are under three out of four games on the road and under on their only 5.5 total this season, the Predators really fuel this prediction; Nashville is four out of six under at home and six out of seven times under on a 5.5 total. --Allen
Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild
8 p.m., Grand Casino Arena
Spread: Jets -1.5 (+210), Wild +1.5 (-300)
Total: 5.5 (O -135/U +110)
Moneyline: Jets -110, Wild -110
Ryan Hartman Over 2.5 shots on goal (+125): Centering the third line and secondary power play, Hartman is bound to come out firing after enjoying his most productive game -- a goal/assist showing in Sunday's losing overtime effort versus the Sharks -- since opening night. More to the point, the 31-year-old has failed to register a minimum of three shots only three times in 10 contests. Plus, somewhat surprisingly, the Jets are surrendering the league's fourth-highest number of shots on their own net to date. --Matiash
Detroit Red Wings at St. Louis Blues
8:15 p.m., Enterprise Center
Spread: Red Wings +1.5 (-275), Blues -1.5 (+200)
Total: 5.5 (O -135/U +115)
Moneyline: Red Wings -110, Blues -110
Red Wings money line (-110): The early money was focused enough on the Red Wings to take them from +110 to -110 and flip the spread favorite to their side by Tuesday morning. The Blues only have one money line victory at home this season in five chances. A questionable Robert Thomas only adds to the concern. --Allen
Washington Capitals at Dallas Stars
8:30 p.m., American Airlines Center
Spread: Capitals +1.5 (-215), Stars -1.5 (+170)
Total: 5.5 (O -135/U +105)
Moneyline: Capitals +120, Stars -140
Jason Robertson Over 0.5 power play points (+170): The Capitals' penalty kill isn't great to launch this campaign, pacing out at a 66.7% success rate. Washington is also playing less disciplined through their last four games, averaging 9:45 PIM/GP. Five of Robertson's nine points on the year have counted with the extra skater, including a power-play assist in Sunday's win in Nashville. --Matiash
Ottawa Senators at Chicago Blackhawks
8:45 p.m., United Center
Spread: Senators -1.5 (+175), Blackhawks +1.5 (-225)
Total: 5.5 (O -135/U +115)
Moneyline: Senators -135, Blackhawks +115
Frank Nazar first goalscorer (+1500): Here's a wild card for you, but hear us out. The Ottawa Senators have been scored on first a league-leading eight times this season. The Chicago Blackhawks are tied for the league lead with seven first goals. Frank Nazar is tied for the league lead with three first goals. C'mon! Let's do it!
Dylan Cozens total power-play points Over 0.5 (+275): The Blackhawks are middle-of-the-road on the kill, but the Senators share the league lead with 13 power-play goals this season. Cozens has been a part of seven of them. --Allen
New Jersey Devils at Colorado Avalanche
9 p.m., Ball Arena
Spread: Devils +1.5 (-190), Avalanche -1.5 (+160)
Total: 6.5 (O +110/U -130)
Moneyline: Devils +130, Avalanche -150
Game total over 6.5 (+110): After losing four-straight, including 4-3 in overtime Sunday to these same Devils, expect Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs to come out firing at home. Projected to make his first start since losing two weeks to a lower-body injury, New Jersey netminder Jacob Markstrom is facing what could quickly turn into a very busy affair. Meanwhile, excellent between the pipes for the Avalanche to start this season, Scott Wedgewood is stumbling a bit, losing three straight while surrendering 11 total goals. Both of these teams can score, none more successfully than the Devils, who rank top of the NHL table with 3.89 goals/game. --Matiash
Utah Mammoth at Edmonton Oilers
9:30 p.m., Rogers Place
Spread: Mammoth +1.5 (-190), Oilers -1.5 (+160)
Total: 6.5 (O +105/U -125)
Moneyline: Mammoth +130, Oilers -150
Mammoth +1.5 game spread (-190): Even though he has 12 points in just 10 games, it still feels like Connor McDavid could level up at any moment. In the meantime, the Oilers are 1-2 against the puck line as home favorites, while the visiting Mammoth as a perfect 4-0 as road dogs on the spread. --Allen
New York Rangers at Vancouver Canucks
10 p.m., Rogers Arena
Spread: Rangers -1.5 (+190), Canucks +1.5 (-265)
Total: 5.5 (O -130/U +110)
Moneyline: Rangers -120, Canucks Even
J.T. Miller Over 1.5 shots on goal (-170): C'mon. In his first game back in Vancouver as Rangers captain, Miller is precisely the type of player to dig a little deeper with a view to sticking it to his old squad. It's not like the relationship ended all that pleasantly. Maybe he doesn't score, or even register a point, but the fiery forward can certainly be expected to shoot on Vancouver's cage twice. Especially after uncharacteristically hitting the net only once in each of his past two contests. --Matiash
Montreal Canadiens at Seattle Kraken
10:30 p.m., Climate Pledge Arena
Spread: Canadiens -1.5 (+185), Kraken +1.5 (-250)
Total: 5.5 (O 125/U +105)
Moneyline: Canadiens -130, Kraken +110
Canadiens -1.5 game spread (+185): Let's go back to the game spread well one more time, but as complete contrarians. The Habs have been hot, but are actually 0-2 against the puck line as road favorites, while the Kraken are a perfect 2-0 at home as favorites. So, naturally, we'll go against the grain in one of the later games and predict the Canadiens break their streak. For context, road dogs are only 29% successful this season. --Allen
Los Angeles Kings at San Jose Sharks
11 p.m., SAP Center
Spread: Kings -1.5 (+130), Sharks +1.5 (-155)
Total: 6.5 (O +110/U -130)
Moneyline: Kings -190, Sharks +160
Adrian Kempe Over 0.5 total goals: The Kings' most dangerous forward has three in his past four games and five in his past eight. While an entertaining club on the rise, no team is surrendering more goals this season than the Sharks (4.67 GA/GP). For longer odds, Alex Laferriere Over 0.5 total goals (+250)
also sports appeal. Heating up after a sluggish start, the second-line winger looked his most dynamic self, firing six shots on net and scoring against Chicago Sunday. --Matiash
