Daniel Dopp: 'Patrick Mahomes is just that good' in fantasy
Daniel Dopp explains why Patrick Mahomes is a Week 7 fantasy football winner.
Rankings changes:Jayden Daniels (hamstring) suffered his second known injury of the season on Sunday, leaving his availability for Week 8 in doubt. While Daniels produces when he plays, it is fair to wonder about his durability. He falls some in the rankings, joining Baker Mayfield, who is coming off a rough Monday night performance. Patrick Mahomes, the leader in QB fantasy scoring, finally moves to the top spot, ahead of Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson -- for now.
Bo Nix and Jaxson Dart, the stars from the wild Broncos-Giants contest Sunday move up to QB1 territory, pushing past Caleb Williams. Joe Flacco becomes a SuperFlex play. Justin Fields becomes waiver-wire fodder, despite three games of at least 25 PPR points this season. Mahomes is the only other QB to have done so.
Running back
Rankings changes: The great Bijan Robinson doesn't really deserve a fall from No. 1 to No. 3, but blame Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Taylor. Their incredible play forced this adjustment. Similarly, the NFC East hierarchy changes, with Cam Skattebo and Javonte Williams leapfrogging struggling Saquon Barkley. Hey, it's not the 2024 season anymore. It's Week 8. Barkley is averaging fewer PPR points per game than Rico Dowdle and 16 others.
How Olave proved to be a top-20 fantasy WR in Week 7
Tristan H. Cockcroft breaks down Chris Olave's fantasy production in the Saints' Week 7 loss.
Rankings changes:Ja'Marr Chase, coming off three excellent performances, is back at No. 1, edging past the injured Puka Nacua (ankle). A pair of Cowboys join the pair of Rams in the top 10, with George Pickens rising. Chris Olave and Rashee Rice close in on WR1 territory.
An injured Garrett Wilson clings to his WR2 status, while Brian Thomas Jr. and Jaylen Waddle lose theirs. Mike Evans (clavicle) leaves the rankings. There will not be a 12th consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season after all.
