Seahawks' Christine Michael 'ready for a bigger load' vs. 49ers

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks are focused on getting their run game going against the San Francisco 49ers, and Christine Michael is the back they'll lean on.

Thomas Rawls is doubtful with a shin injury and did not practice all week. C.J. Prosise (wrist) is questionable. The only other back on the roster as of now now is rookie Alex Collins, although the Seahawks could always add somoene before Sunday.

Asked about his comfort level in going with Michael, Pete Carroll said, "We really are. He's averaging five yards a carry for a reason. He had a really good offseason. He had a terrific camp. All indications that he's ready for a bigger load. He's had 20-something carries so far. He's ready to carry the ball 20-something times in a game. He could be fine with that."

While Michael has averaged 5.04 YPC, the rest of the Seahawks' running backs have totaled just 23 yards on 22 carries.

As for Rawls, he's dealing with a shin injury he sustained in the first half of last week's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Carroll said it's "totally unrelated" to his offseason ankle surgery.

"It's not a dangerous injury or anything like that," Carroll said. "We're just going to be open-minded and still make the decision to see what we're going to do. We are prepared to go without him if he can't go, but we'd love to see him if he can get there."

As for Prosise, Carroll said, "He practiced all week, so he made it through. We have the option of playing him."

At wide receiver, Tyler Lockett (knee) is questionable but expected to play. Doug Baldwin (knee) and Russell Wilson (ankle) are not on the injury report.

Tight end Nick Vannett and right guard Germain Ifedi are doubtful and not expected to play.
