Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski remains out of practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who pulled up along the sideline during practice on Aug. 15 with an injury that does not appear serious, was not present for the start of the team's on-field workout Monday.

Gronkowski has walked through the locker room on Sunday and Monday at the time reporters were present and showed no noticeable signs of an injury.

Reporters were present for the first 20 minutes of Monday's full-pads practice, as the team's open sessions of training camp have officially ended.

Some other attendance-based notes:

  • Starting defensive end Jabaal Sheard, who has been in the locker room the last two days when reporters were present and indicated he was feeling OK, remains out of practice. He's been sidelined since the preseason opener when he was having his knee area looked at by the medical staff on the sideline.

  • Quarterback Tom Brady was not present, as expected, as he has an excused absence for non-injury-related reasons for the second day in a row.

  • Starting safety Patrick Chung, who struggled at times in the first quarter of Thursday's preseason game against the Bears, was not present.

  • Veteran defensive tackle Alan Branch, who has been suspended by the club for a violation of team rules, remains absent.

  • Receiver Danny Amendola remains on the physically unable to perform list, but he warmed up with his teammates at practice, just not in full pads. He appears to be moving well.

  • Receiver Keshawn Martin participated in individual drills, as did undrafted rookie running back D.J. Foster and undrafted tight end Bryce Williams, which seemed to be a step in the right direction for them. They haven't played in the preseason to this point.

  • Guard Tre' Jackson, who remains on the PUP list, was present for the stretching and jogging part of the practice but wasn't in full pads.

  • Starting cornerback Logan Ryan has shed the red, non-contact jersey for the first time since training camp opened.

  • Running backs Dion Lewis and Donald Brown, offensive tackles Sebastian Vollmer and Cameron Fleming, receiver Malcolm Mitchell, defensive ends Rob Ninkovich and Shea McClellin, guards Jonathan Cooper and Shaq Mason were other players not present for individual drills. Brown, Ninkovich, McClellin and Mitchell worked on their conditioning on a different field.

  • Undrafted cornerback V'Angelo Bentley and veteran tight end Bear Pascoe were not present, as both have been informed of their release, according to sources. Safety Cedric Thompson, who was informed of his release Sunday (according to his agent, David Canter), also wasn't on the field.
