With a pretty deep group of wide receivers, and a couple of rookie running backs, there's some streaming options with fantasy upside in Week 13. We'll look at the quarterback position too, and also take a shot on a defense - in a positive matchup -- that really struggled to limit the run game this past Sunday.
I've identified the players -- all rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues -- who can be picked up for this week's slate of games. While you might notice some overlap with Eric Moody's waiver wire column that publishes on Mondays, an important distinction is that the options mentioned in this column are focused solely on this week's matchup and not the players' values for the remainder of the season. So, let's start in New York, with quarterback Mike White -- who finished as QB6 in Week 12.
Quarterbacks
Mike White, New York Jets (11.1% rostered; at Vikings)
White can give you some fantasy upside in 12 and 14 team leagues or 2QB formats due to his ability to execute the Jets offense. He can hit the schemed throws, take the underneath options (when available) and finds his playmakers -- Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore. White dropped 24.8 fantasy points against the talent-deficient Bears defense, completing 22-of-28 passes with three touchdowns. He faces a Vikings defense in Week 13 that plays heavy split-safety coverages. The Jets can use the play-action concepts to give White some second-level windows to throw in and more catch and run targets for Wilson and Moore.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (29.5% rostered; vs. Jaguars)
Goff checked-in with 17.9 fantasy points in the Thanksgiving game against the Bills defense, throwing two touchdowns. He has posted at least 14 fantasy points in three of his past five starts. This week, Goff faces the Jags defense, a unit that ranks near the bottom 10 in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks. Goff must complete the clean platform throws -- off play-action or seven-man protection. That will create opportunities to throw schemed vertical and crossing routes, a staple of the Lions route tree. A healthy DJ Chark back on the field opens up more red zone opportunities for Goff to throw the fade ball versus single-high coverage. Goff is a deep league streamer this week.
Other potential options: Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers (45.1% rostered; vs. Dolphins)
Running backs
Zonovan Knight, New York Jets (28.4% rostered; at Vikings)
Michael Carter suffered an ankle injury in Week 12, James Robinson was a healthy scratch and the tape on Knight -- an undrafted rookie -- was pretty good. He posted 13.3 PPR points against the Bears defense, leading the Jets rushing attack with 69 yards (on 14 carries), while logging three receptions for 34 yards. Knight can get downhill without a lot of wasted movement or hesitation. When he sees a running lane open, he goes. While you should keep an eye Carter's status, Knight could see another high-volume day against the Vikings in Week 13.
Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams (32.7% rostered; vs. Seahawks)
Williams paced the Rams backfield with 11 carries against the Chiefs and had three receptions. While those numbers don't jump out, Williams has traits in the passing game and is a competitive runner with the lateral quickness to find daylight in traffic. Williams could be worth a shot this week in 12 and 14 team leagues. He should be in a rotational role with Cam Akers against a Seattle defensive front that was gashed by Josh Jacobs in Week 12.
Other potential options: Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons (41.1% rostered; vs. Steelers); Jerick McKinnon, Kansas City Chiefs (28.4% rostered; at Bengals); Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens (45.0% rostered; vs. Broncos); Ty Johnson, New York Jets (1.9% rostered; at Vikings)
Wide receivers
Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (51.8% rostered; at Lions)
Jones cooked the Ravens secondary in Week 12 catching 11 passes for 145 yards, good for 27.5 PPR points. Jones has caught 19-of-24 targets for 213 yards over the last two games and Trevor Lawrence is really dialed-in right now. He looks poised in the pocket is reading through his progressions fast and throwing lasers. Given the recent uptick in production for Jones plus a great matchup against the Lions secondary, he has WR3 potential in Week 13.
Treylon Burks, WR, Tennessee Titans (44.8% rostered; at Eagles)
I don't love Burks' matchup in Week 13 against a Philly secondary that has Darius Slay out ready to shadow him in man coverage or cover the verticals in zone. But looking at the tape, the rookie has produced back-to-back games with at least 17 PPR points against the Bengals and Packers secondaries. Burks has also shown his vertical ability (three explosive play receptions), while catching 11-of-14 targets for 181 yards over that stretch. He fits in the Titans route structure, and you can bet on his upside as the Titans continue to mix in some shot play throws with Ryan Tannehill.
Other potential options: Michael Gallup, Dallas Cowboys (44.7% rostered; at Colts); Elijah Moore, New York Jets (34.4% rostered; at Vikings); DeAndre Carter, Los Angeles Rams (6.8% rostered; at Raiders); Marvin Jones Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars (19.0% rostered; at Lions); Richie James, New York Giants (1.0% rostered; vs. Commanders); DJ Chark, Detroit Lions (18.8% rostered; vs. Jaguars)
Tight ends
Foster Moreau, Las Vegas Raiders (41.0% rostered; at Chargers)
It's getting tougher to find tight ends (who are rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues) with enough weekly upside each week. That's why I focus on scoring production, which fits here with Moreau. He has caught a touchdown and produced double digit PPR games in two of the past three weeks and seen 14 targets over that stretch. With a positive matchup against the Chargers defense, Moreau has streaming potential for Week 13 as a middle of the field outlet for Derek Carr, who can post-up or separate on schemed concepts in the red zone.
Other potential options: Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (34.1% rostered; at Viking); Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks (32.6% rostered; at Rams); Jordan Akins, Houston Texans (0.6% rostered; vs. Browns)
Defense/special teams
Seattle Seahawks (34.2% rostered; at Rams)
I think this is a brutal week to look for a solid defense to stream. Josh Jacobs went to work on this Seattle unit in Week 12 (229 yards rushing), but we can still lean on the matchup against a Rams offense that is limited in the passing game with John Wolford at quarterback and multiple injuries at wide receiver. Seattle's defense has caught two interceptions in each of their past two games, with double digit fantasy points in three of their last six. Expect some pressure from the Seattle front, with some blitz schemes, to speed up the clock on Wolford in Week 13.
Other potential options: Cleveland Browns (50.3% rostered; at Texans)
