The Tennessee Titans had three players named to the Pro Bowl. Here’s a look at who was selected and who wasn’t:
Jurrell Casey, DT, third Pro Bowl selectoin: Casey made the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive season as players and coaches saw what fans don't often see and the numbers don't often show: Casey is a key cog in the Titans third-ranked rushing defense and has notched at least five sacks for the fifth consecutive season.
Taylor Lewan, OT, second Pro Bowl selection: Lewan is the Titans' enforcer, both in between and after the whistle, and he's turned in another solid season protecting Marcus Mariota's blind side. It's his second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance.
Brett Kern, P, first Pro Bowl selection: Kern's combination of consistency, power and precision earned him a much-deserved first Pro Bowl honor. Kern leads all punters in gross average (51.6 yards) and net average (45.6)
SNUBS
Kevin Byard, FS: Byard exploded onto the scene in his first season as a full-team starter, grabbing six interceptions, tied for second-most in the NFL, and establishing himself as one of the best all-around safeties this season. Byard was named an alternate, but he should have made the Pro Bowl initial roster over Baltimore's Eric Weddle.
Titans LB Wesley Woodyard and TE Delanie Walker also were deserving, but they faced tough and worthy AFC competition who got in over them.
ALTERNATES
Byard, Walker, quarterback Marcus Mariota, right tackle Jack Conklin, outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, kick returner Adoree' Jackson, special teamer Brynden Trawick.
