Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell’s new rap track, "Focus," touches on some interesting football topics and elicits an important question.

Is Bell looking for $15 million a year in his new contract?

To be sure, it’s unclear whether Bell is talking about money or something else (touchdowns?) with the reference of "15 a year." I’m in the process of trying to find out exactly what he meant. Anyway, here’s the line:

I'm at the top and if not I'm the closest/Ima need 15 a year and they know this

Bell, a free agent in 2017, is one of the game’s best tailbacks and will likely be paid as such eventually. But $15 million in this climate seems almost impossible for any back to get. The 2016 version of Jim Brown would have difficulty sniffing $15 million. Though Vikings tailback Adrian Peterson makes $14 million a season on a deal he signed in 2010, the next-closest -- Bills tailback LeSean McCoy -- is at $8 million. Fair or not, the league is trending toward paying running backs less ever since Peterson’s $100-million blockbuster deal.

In 2017, the Steelers could choose to franchise tag Bell, which this year is scheduled to pay $11.7 million.

Bell is electric when he’s on the field, and he’s eager to prove he’s durable after missing 13 games in three seasons. Perhaps an explosive start to the season can help him find a sweet spot between Peterson and McCoy money.

Bell also appears to address a rumor floated by a Pittsburgh radio host about Bell failing or skipping a drug test.

Bell has vehemently denied that he’s had any drug-testing issues.
