Eagles' Jason Peters, Fletcher Cox selected to Pro Bowl

SELECTIONS

Jason Peters, right tackle, ninth Pro Bowl selection: The 34-year-old is enjoying a bounce-back year following an injury-plagued 2015 season. It hasn't been perfect -- Peters leads the NFL with nine false starts -- but he has admirably protected Carson Wentz's blind side, proving he is still one of the best tackles in the game. A ninth Pro Bowl nod only adds to what some consider to be a Hall of Fame résumé. His seventh Pro Bowl selection as an Eagle puts him in a tie for second with Reggie White and Brian Dawkins on the franchise's all-time list. Chuck Bednarik has eight.

“That’s some great company to be mentioned with those guys," Peters said. "It just makes you think about all the hard work you put in, and it makes you feel good about yourself, because that’s some good company, the Brian Dawkins, the Reggie Whites and all those guys. That’s crazy.”

Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle, second Pro Bowl selection: Cox leads the team in sacks (6.5) and is second in hurries (17) and tackles for loss (10). Drawing plenty of double-teams inside, he hasn't had the dominant season many expected -- especially after he inked a mega deal this offseason -- but Cox remains an impact player.

"It was just surprising with the year I've had, the ups and downs, that I made it," Cox said. "I just kept pushing. We were trying to get this team in a better position to make it to the playoffs. At this point, we're officially eliminated from the playoffs, so I'll look forward to going to the Pro Bowl and getting a chance to compete again.”

SNUBS

Defensive end Brandon Graham has been an impact player against both the run and pass, but with 5.5 sacks, he didn't have the splash numbers to make the cut. Safety Malcolm Jenkins seemed like a legit possibility before the Eagles' defense fell off. Linebacker Jordan Hicks does not have the name recognition yet, but he'll be on the radar before long if he continues to play at this level.
