Sam Bradford: Up
Before Friday's indoor practice, Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson reiterated that Bradford is the team's No. 1 quarterback. Pederson also said that Bradford had established himself as the top quarterback through three weeks of OTA practices. Once practice started, Bradford continued to look comfortable and confident running Pederson's offense.
Wow moment: Bradford was accurate all day, which was made easier by the many short passes he threw. His most impressive throw was a deep ball down the left sideline to tight end Zach Ertz. Cornerback Ron Brooks was there, but Bradford dropped the ball into Ertz's arms.
Whoa moment: On another throw to Ertz, Bradford wasn't as accurate. Ertz was running down the left hashmark with a step or two on his defender. Bradford's throw was a bit short, allowing linebacker Najee Goode to make a nice interception.
Chase Daniel: Up
Eagles radio broadcaster Merrill Reese watched the early parts of practice and said that he was surprised how good an arm Daniel has. Reese has been calling Eagles games since Ron Jaworski, so he knows a little bit about the subject. And it's true: Daniel may put a little more air under longer throws than Bradford or Carson Wentz, but his short and intermediate passes get there in a hurry.
Wow moment: Daniel dropped back, looking to his left. He suddenly turned toward the right and lofted a deep pass for wide receiver Josh Huff. The fake caused cornerback Leodis McKelvin to hesitate, and Huff was open for the touchdown.
Whoa moment: Daniel was rolling to his right on what appeared to be a designed play. He stopped, planted and threw a pass toward the middle of the field. Defensive end Steven Means got a hand on the ball, which popped into the air. Rookie linebacker Joe Walker caught it and had an open path to the end zone.
Carson Wentz: Up
The rookie continued to hold his own in comparison to the two veteran quarterbacks. Wentz's superior size and athleticism were highlighted by a couple of plays. Daniel was caught at the line of scrimmage when he tried to scramble. On a similar play, Wentz got to the outside and took off.
Wow moment: The defense blitzed Wentz, recalling the days when Jim Johnson's "blitz drills" were designed to test the rookie Donovan McNabb. Wentz was flushed and moved to his right. He kept his eyes downfield and found wide receiver T.J. Graham for about a 10-yard gain.
Whoa moment: Wentz's deep pass for Graham was intercepted by cornerback C.J. Smith, Wentz's teammate from North Dakota State. Graham broke off his route, leaving Smith running alone under Wentz's pass. Those things happen in practice, and it's impossible to know whether it was Graham's mistake or Wentz's.
Who won the day? We have to go with Bradford. He had a solid day on the practice field. Before that, his coach praised his progress and said he had separated himself from Daniel and Wentz. All in all, a pretty good day for Bradford.
