Up next: Huskies get Mariota'ed

Who and against whom: Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota looked every bit the Heisman Trophy candidate on the road at Washington in a 45-24 victory over the 16th-ranked Huskies on Oct. 12.

The numbers: Mariota completed 24 of 31 passes -- 77.4 percent -- for 366 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for 88 yards on 13 carries -- 6.8 yards per carry -- with a touchdown.

A closer look: This might have been the best performance by a quarterback on the road against a good defense all year. Mariota's adjusted QBR was 97.4 for the game (out of a possible 100). He connected on 13 of his first 15 passes in front of a boisterous crowd that was hungry to end a decade of futility in the bitter rivalry. Further, while the final margin suggests a blowout, this was a seven-point game entering the fourth quarter when Mariota asserted himself with a 5-yard TD run and a short TD pass. He also had a 65-yard TD pass to Josh Huff on the first possession of the second half after the Huskies had cut the Ducks' lead to 21-14 on their first possession of the third quarter (a 60-yard run from Bishop Sankey). In fact, the Huskies pulled within a TD twice in the second half, but Mariota always had an answer. His offense rolled up 631 total yards and averaged 7.8 yards per play against a defense that had yielded 3.9 yards per play and was ranked third in the nation in pass efficiency defense.
