Breaking down Darrelle Revis' contract

I just got a look at the details of the six-year, $96 million contract cornerback Darrelle Revis signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after being traded from the New York Jets.

As advertised, there is no guaranteed money. And, as has become Tampa Bay’s custom with general manager Mark Dominik, there was no signing bonus.

Although the deal is huge, it’s pretty simplistic. Revis’ pay and salary-cap figure are the same in every year through 2018.

In each year, he has a base salary of $13 million. In each year, he also has a roster bonus of $1.5 million and a workout bonus of $1.5 million.

Revis’ salary-cap figure will be $16 million in every year of the deal.

Now that Revis’ contract is in, the Bucs are about $17.9 million under the salary cap.
