Michael Floyd sensed flea-flicker opening early in play

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Arizona Cardinals' 20-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers:

  • When Michael Floyd was asked about catching his first touchdown pass off a flea-flicker, he responded: “It was pretty good.” Floyd said he knew he’d be open for the score early in the play.

  • Again, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians made a mea culpa for announcing rookie Logan Thomas as the starter on Monday, only to backtrack and name Ryan Lindley the starter later in the week. “That situation that happened on Wednesday was my fault. I should’ve just kept my mouth shut. I knew what I was going to do anyway.”

  • Arians didn’t want anyone in the Cardinals’ locker room to spend much time -- if any -- thinking about Sunday’s loss. The players bought in. “It is about short-term memory right now,” linebacker Kevin Minter said. “What we did before doesn’t matter anymore, win or lose. It is time to just kick it into another gear.”
