Source: Mohamed Massaquoi a goner

No surprise here, but the Jets released veteran WR Mohamed Massaquoi, according to a league source.

Massaquoi faced an uphill battle, arriving midway through the preseason after being released by the Jaguars. He played in only two games for the Jets, catching two passes for 36 yards. The emergence of rookie Ryan Spadola probably made Massaquoi expendable. Spadola appears to have nailed down the No. 5 job.

The Jets still haven't announced their cuts, but here's the unofficial list, confirmed by various sources: Massaquoi, QB Greg McElroy, RB Mossis Madu, S Rontez Miles, C Erik Cook, DE Junior Aumavae, LB JoJo Dickson, DT Tevita Finau and CB Mike Edwards. That leaves them at 64 players.
