FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots hold their first practice of training camp on Thursday morning, and barring a late change, running back LeGarrette Blount and defensive tackle Alan Branch won't be participating after being placed on the active/non-football injury list.
In addition, second-year guard Caylin Hauptmann landed on the active/NFI list.
A player can come off the active/NFI list at any point during training camp. It essentially means that the player is not cleared to participate.
Players took their conditioning test Wednesday, which they must pass to take part in practice.
Blount, Branch and Hauptmann join veteran quarterback Matt Flynn on the active/NFI list.
Meanwhile, defensive tackles Dominique Easley, Chris Jones and Vince Taylor; linebackers Dane Fletcher and Chris White; receivers Brandon LaFell and Matthew Slater; and guard/center Ryan Wendell have opened camp on the active/physically unable to perform list.
