SAN DIEGO -- The reunion was short-lived one for the San Diego Chargers and receiver Vincent Brown.

The Chargers announced on Tuesday that they have released the five-year pro.

Signed on Dec. 8, Brown was active his first week with the Chargers, finishing with one catch for 22 yards in a 10-3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, Brown was inactive for the last two games, with the Chargers playing developmental receivers in Dontrelle Inman and Tyrell Williams.

A third-round selection by the Chargers in 2011, Brown suffered a calf strain on the second day of training camp in 2014, but was expected to return to the field early in the regular season. However, the Chargers waived Brown during final roster cuts at the end of August.

Brown, 26, played all 16 games for the first time in his NFL career in 2013, finishing with 41 receptions for 472 yards and a touchdown. Brown had only one drop on the year. He finished his time in San Diego with 61 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns.

Brown signed with the Oakland Raiders later in 2014, seeing action in seven games and finishing with 12 receptions for 118 yards. The San Diego State product went to training camp with the Indianapolis Colts in 2015, but was released during final roster cuts.

With Brown's release, the Chargers now have two vacant spots on the 51-man roster, as general manager Tom Telesco looks to start the rebuilding process with an eye toward the 2016 season.
