Despite underachieving season, Raiders have four Pro Bowlers, including Khalil Mack

The Oakland Raiders had four players named to the Pro Bowl. Here’s a look at who was selected:

SELECTIONS

Khalil Mack, DE, third Pro Bowl selection: The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year is currently riding a five-game sack streak, and his 10.5 sacks lead Oakland and rank ninth in the NFL. The edge rusher had 15 sacks in 2015 and 11 sacks last season and is just the fifth Raiders player to have three straight double-digit sack seasons since it became an official NFL stat in 1982.

Rodney Hudson, C, second Pro Bowl selection: He played Sunday night in extreme pain, as he was battling a kidney stone, and he was Pro Football Focus’ highest-graded Raiders player that game. He has yet to allow a QB hit, let alone a sack, this season and leads all NFL centers in total pressures allowed (one) and pass-blocking efficiency (99.9) among those with 150 pass-block snaps.

Kelechi Osemele, LG, second Pro Bowl selection: The bruising mauler has allowed 15 total pressures this season, which is tied for 10th among guards with at least 400 pass-block snaps in Pro Football Focus’ rankings. He has allowed two sacks, two hits and 11 hurries and is PFF’s seventh-ranked guard in pass-blocking efficiency in 529 pass-block snaps.

Donald Penn, LT, third Pro Bowl: Penn will be a no-go as he undergoes season-ending surgery on his right foot this week. But after an up-and-down start to the season following a training camp holdout, Penn rounded into shape and allowed just 25 total pressures, ranking 12th among offensive tackles with at least 400 pass-block snaps this season, per PFF.
