          Jacksonville Jaguars mailbag

          @ESPNdirocco: He has made some plays here and there and has had a solid camp. He's one of the young pass-rushers the Jaguars like and they're using him in their lightning package, which puts four pass-rushers on the field at the same time. In that case, he's lined up inside because he has bulked up to 260 pounds since he joined the team in 2012.

          @ESPNdirocco: Reynolds hasn't really been noticeable in camp. He's facing a tough task in making the roster because the Jaguars are likely only going to keep five cornerbacks and the top four spots are locked up: Dwayne Gratz, Alan Ball, Will Blackmon and Demetrius McCray. He's battling five other guys for one spot, including veteran Mike Harris.

          @ESPNdirocco: None of the injuries are expected to linger into the regular season, with the possible exception of receiver Tandon Doss (ankle). Linebacker Dekoda Watson, who hasn't practiced yet as he recovers from a second groin surgery, is supposed to be ready for the season opener. He has been aggressively rehabbing and we've seen him running around and working pretty hard on the practice field, so it appears he's on track.

          @ESPNdirocco: He's further ahead, certainly in his knowledge of the offense. OC Jedd Fisch said Bortles reported to camp ahead of where he expected. Bortles has thrown the ball much better in camp than he did in the spring. It's rare when a pass flutters now, but it was a regular occurrence in the spring. However, Friday night was his first live action since Central Florida's bowl game. He still has work to do and isn't close to usurping Chad Henne as the starter.

          @ESPNdirocco: In the roster projections I have done, I have the Jaguars keeping four running backs (Toby Gerhart, Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson) and one fullback (Will Ta'ufo'ou). I believe that's exactly what the Jaguars will do, so I don't see any of them in jeopardy of being cut.

          @ESPNdirocco: I'm not sure if you meant this as a shot, but if you did, you're going to be disappointed. Because of the stadium renovations, which includes the construction of the video boards and pools, the Jaguars have removed 9,500 seats and taken tarps off 12 sections. Only four sections, totaling about 3,000 seats, will have tarps in 2014.

          @ESPNdirocco: It has been around for a while. The Jaguars used it last August on offensive lineman Stephane Milhim and receiver Taylor Price. For anyone confused, players with less than four years of service cannot go on a team's injured reserve until they pass through waivers. If a waived/injured player clears waivers, he then goes on that team's IR.

          @ESPNdirocco: Cornerback Demetrius McCray is a player I'm interested in watching as well. Other "sleepers" I want to see are safety Craig Loston, safety Joe Young, defensive tackle DeAndre Colemanand tight end Marcel Jensen. McCray should make the 53-man roster, but the others are long shots and what they do in the first three preseason games will decide their fate.

          @ESPNdirocco: He has been working with the second- and third-team offensive line and has gotten reps at guard and center. He's listed as the second-team center behind Mike Brewster right now. I haven't really noticed him much. He isn't as far advanced as another rookie offensive lineman, guard Brandon Linder.

          @ESPNdirocco: I really like the improvement along the defensive line. Adding Chris Clemons, Red Bryant and Ziggy Hood, plus a healthy Roy Miller, should make the pass rush and run defense significantly better. End Tyson Alualu has had a really good camp, too. Johnathan Cyprien appears to be on the verge of becoming one of the league's better safeties, according to his teammates, anyway. The defense should keep the Jaguars in games into the fourth quarter, which is a definite upgrade from last season.

          @ESPNdirocco: Despite numerous emails to my bosses and the marketing department extolling the virtues and visibility that me covering a game from a cabana would generate, I have to remain in the press box. However, I'm hoping Billy Donovan will be willing to purchase one for a game or two and have me as his guest.
