After examining the Houston Texans' quarterbacks and receivers, we'll continue our series looking at snap counts by position with running backs.
Running backs/fullbacks
Arian Foster: 595 snaps, 56 percent
Alfred Blue: 318 snaps, 29.9 percent
Jay Prosch: 165 snaps, 15.5 percent
Jonathan Grimes: 155 snaps, 14.6 percent
Ronnie Brown: 9 snaps, 3 percent
It's natural that Foster leads this group as the starter. He missed three full games and parts of three others with injuries, paving the way for Blue to get significant playing time. The Texans initially kept five players in this group with an eye to the younger players' development. Ronnie Brown was good for that, but with more confidence in Blue that roster spot became useful elsewhere. Brown spent four games with the Texans. Grimes played 95 of his 155 snaps on passing downs and ran 81 routes on those plays. Beyond Foster, this was a young group with Blue and Prosch being 2014 draft picks.
