Packers' Eddie Lacy goes for an underwater run

When last seen around Lambeau Field, Eddie Lacy was getting around just fine in the days after he was able to shed the walking boot and scooter he needed in the months that followed his ankle surgery.

But no one had seen the Green Bay Packers running back actually run.

Until now.

Sort of.

Lacy posted a video that showed him running in a pool at what appeared to be a workout/rehab session at the University of Alabama, his alma mater.

Lacy will be a free agent in less than three weeks unless the Packers can re-sign him. That may be contingent on Lacy’s ability to show that he’s healthy.

"I'd love to see Eddie back," coach Mike McCarthy said earlier this offseason. "Eddie is going through a medical situation. I clearly understand his contract situation, so that's really something we'll continue to work through."

Lacy’s agent, Pat Dye Jr., did not return a message seeking comment about his client’s rehab schedule.

Lacy averaged 5.1 yards per carry before he injured his left ankle early last season. He did not play after the Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys and was placed on injured reserve.

The Packers have only one halfback under contract for next season and it’s converted receiver Ty Montgomery.
