GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers did in one half what he had not done in almost a year: the Green Bay Packers quarterback threw a pair of interceptions.
With two interceptions in the first half of Sunday night’s game against the New York Giants -- both by cornerback Janoris Jenkins -- Rodgers was ensured of his first multiple-interception game since Oct. 11, 2015.
That Week 5 game last season against the St. Louis Rams ended Rodgers’ streak of 586 consecutive pass attempts at Lambeau Field without an interception.
Of all teams to pick off Rodgers twice in one half, the Giants seemed an unlikely possibility. They came into Sunday night’s game with only one takeaway all season, the fewest in the NFL.
However, the Giants turned those takeaways into only a field goal, and the Packers built a 17-6 halftime lead. They held the ball for 20:02 of the first half, compared to 9:58 for the Giants.
Rodgers came into the game with only one interception this season against seven touchdowns. He threw two touchdown passes in the first half, one each to Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. For Nelson, it was his fifth touchdown catch of the season in just his fourth game.
Before Jenkins, the last player with two interceptions of Rodgers in a game was Bacarri Rambo of the Bills in Week 15 of the 2014 season.
