GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It appears Ty Montgomery has teased the Green Bay Packers once more. For the second time in a month, the rookie receiver appeared to be on the verge of returning from his Week 6 ankle injury only to drop out of practice again.
There was Montgomery on the sideline again Thursday while the rest of the team was practicing in full pads.

On Wednesday, Montgomery was listed as a limited participant and appeared to be on track to at least have a chance to play Sunday at the Oakland Raiders. Montgomery practiced all of last week and coach Mike McCarthy said at the time that the third-round pick from Stanford had “definitely cleared a hurdle he hasn’t in prior weeks.”
Nevertheless, he was inactive for last Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Now, it appears likely he’ll miss an eighth straight game. In fact, the rest of his season might be in jeopardy.
It was Montgomery’s second apparent setback in his bid to return. On Nov. 19, one day after he was a full participant in practice for the first time since the Oct. 18 injury against the San Diego Chargers, he dropped out of practice after he felt some pain his ankle.
The only other players who didn’t practice on Thursday were cornerback Sam Shields (concussion) and guard Josh Sitton (back).
