ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- It would appear the Detroit Lions' waiver claim of wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin is not quite official yet as the team continues to evaulate the former first-round pick.

"We're just in the process of evaluating his medical situation at this point," Lions coach Jim Caldwell said Tuesday.

Baldwin was claimed by the Lions on Monday after being released by San Francisco on Sunday. He had been the No. 26 pick of the 2011 draft by Kansas City, but only has 44 receptions for 607 yards and two touchdowns throughout his time with the Chiefs and 49ers.

It looked like he might see a third chance with Detroit, but for now that appears to at least be a little bit in question. Baldwin, obviously, was not listed on the Lions roster and was not at practice Tuesday.

If the transcation comes to fruition, he would join a competition with Kevin Ogletree, Kris Durham, Corey Fuller, Patrick Edwards and Ryan Broyles for depth receiver spots behind Golden Tate and Calvin Johnson.
