Jeremy Ross, Jermelle Cudjo put together good nights for Detroit Lions

Here are some highs and lows in terms of individual performances from the Detroit Lions' 21-17 loss to the Washington Redskins:

HIGHS:

WR Jeremy Ross: His status as the team’s slot receiver and returner is in question, but he had a strong night in both areas and might be closer to solidifying a roster spot. He had four catches for 31 yards and a well-run touchdown route. He also had a good kick return that almost broke into a massive one.

DT Jermelle Cudjo: Receiving more first-team work after Caraun Reid’s injury, he once again made his snaps count. He had four tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. He is doing everything he can at this point to earn a roster spot.

RB Zach Zenner: He still needs to show special teams worth, but he’s made an impact offensively when he’s been in. His 36-yard catch-and-run off a screen, including making a Washington defender whiff badly, was a very crafty play as part of a drive that finished with a Zenner touchdown reception.

LOWS:

S Don Carey: Not a great night for the backup safety and key special teamer. A holding penalty knocked out an Ameer Abdullah punt return and he missed a couple tackles from my vantage point.

WR Ryan Broyles: With Calvin Johnson and Lance Moore not playing, there should have been more opportunities for Broyles. But he didn’t see a target in the first three quarters and was barely on the field until the fourth quarter.

QB Kellen Moore: He only saw fourth quarter action but did little to make a case for the backup quarterback job. He went 3 of 7 for 31 yards but looked worse than Dan Orlovsky for the second straight week.
