Ravens' Elvis Dumervil's penalty gives mistake-filled game to Jaguars

BALTIMORE -- Just as the Baltimore Ravens were about to celebrate a victory, their final blunder cost them the game.

Elvis Dumervil's face mask penalty as time expired allowed the Jacksonville Jaguars to convert a 53-yard field goal by Jason Myers and come away with a 22-20 win. It's been that type of season for the Ravens.

The Ravens gave the game to the Jaguars in so many ways beyond the final play from scrimmage.

Joe Flacco turned the ball over on the first three drives of the second half. Punt returner Jeremy Ross muffed a punt, which led to a touchdown. Jimmy Smith dropped what appeared to be a pick-six.

In a season filled with frustration, this has to top the list for Baltimore.

What it means: The Ravens' slim playoff hopes are over. Baltimore drops to 2-7, just a half-game ahead of the Cleveland Browns for last place in the AFC North. The Ravens lost to a Jaguars team that had lost 13 straight on the road, the longest active streak in the NFL. Baltimore exceeded its loss total from last season and the Ravens lost three home games for the first time in the John Harbaugh era.

What were they thinking? Ross called for a fair catch and let the ball go through his hands. Five plays later, the Jaguars took a 19-14 lead on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Blake Bortles to Allen Robinson. It was the Ravens' fourth turnover in the first 16 minutes of the second half and it was Ross' second turnover of the season.

Turnover drought ends: The Ravens' five-game streak of not producing a takeaway ended in the second quarter, when cornerback Lardarius Webb picked off Bortles. Two plays later, Flacco tied the game at 7 with a 10-yard touchdown pass to tight end Crockett Gillmore.

Fantasy watch: Kamar Aiken caught seven passes for 73 yards in his first game as the No. 1 wide receiver. Flacco targeted him 14 times, which were twice as many as any other Ravens player.

Ouch: C Jeremy Zuttah hurt his shoulder in the fourth quarter and Aiken sprained his right knee in the third quarter, but both returned to the game. WR Breshad Perriman (knee) has been inactive for all nine games of the season.

What's next: The Ravens play host to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. This marks the end of a three-game home stretch for Baltimore.
