Falcons to re-sign backup QB Matt Schaub

The Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Matt Schaub have reached agreement on a two-year, $9 million deal, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schaub, 36, is coming off his 13th NFL season after signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the Falcons last year. He played in just four games in mop-up duty behind MVP Matt Ryan, completing 1 of 3 passes for 16 yards.

Originally a third-round draft pick of the Falcons in 2004, Schaub has played in 145 career games and is 47-45 as a starter with both the Texans and Ravens (two games).

In his career, Schaub has completed 63.9 percent of his attempts for 24,867 yards, 133 touchdowns, 90 interceptions and a passer rating of 89.1. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Schaub led the NFL with a career-high 4,770 passing yards in 2009 with the Texans.
