Indianapolis Colts: A-minus
The Colts are making their move in the AFC, as they pick up veteran running back Gore after Gore's reported agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles fell through. From a scheme standpoint, Gore is a better fit for Indianapolis' power run concepts, and he seemed miscast for what the Eagles like to do with speedier backs threatening the edge of the defense.
Gore graded at plus-1.8 as a runner last season, picking up 1,103 yards on 255 carries and four touchdowns. He's seen a slight drop-off as a runner in recent years, but the 32-year-old is still a productive chain-mover, and that's a perfect fit for what the Colts want to do on offense. At the very least, Gore can pick up the necessary yardage to keep the Colts' offense on schedule, taking a lot of pressure off Andrew Luck, who has often been asked to win games without a viable running attack.
Gore has also been a solid pass-protector for much of his career, despite a minor step back last season, when he graded at minus-1.1. Although Gore will not provide a home run threat, his ability to work downhill in the Colts' scheme will go a long way toward their taking the next step in the AFC.
