South Korea's Park "Dark" Ryung Woo topped Italy's Riccardo "Reynor" Romiti to win the StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Finals on Friday at BlizzCon in Anaheim, California.

The $700,000 event featured a titanic showdown in the semifinals, when the 17-year-old Reynor posted a 3-2 win over defending champion Joona "Serral" Sotala of Finland.

Serral had won both the WCS Spring and Fall championships, finishing with 10,200 points in the series. Reynor finished second in the WCS Circuit with 7,365 points. Dark, meanwhile, was the No. 1 finisher in the WCS Korea, with top finishes in the Global StarCraft II League Season 2: Code S and the GSL Super Tournament 2.

In the best-of-seven final, Dark jumped out to a 2-0 lead by winning Acropolis and Thunderbird. Reynor rebounded to claim Winter's Gate after an all-or-nothing attack in the early minutes from Dark, but the South Korean closed out the championship with victories on Disco Bloodbath and Triton.

The first best-of-five semifinal saw Serral take Triton before Reynor captured World of Sleepers and Ephemeron. Serral leveled the match by winning Acropolis, but Reynor got the decisive victory on Disco Bloodbath.

In the other semifinal, Dark swept fellow South Korean Kim "Classic" Doh Woo, taking Acropolis, Thunderbird and Disco Bloodbath.

Dark pocketed $210,000 for the championship while Reynor earned $96,000 as runner-up. Serral and Classic each got $51,000 as losing semifinalists.
