ARLINGTON, Texas -- Having seen Dallas' pass rush struggle since the trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Sunday the team has signed veteran Jadeveon Clowney.

The deal is expected to be finalized Monday.

Clowney, 32, visited the Cowboys last week as he looked to join his seventh team since being the No. 1 pick in 2014 by the Houston Texans.

"He has been an outstanding player, and he'll add some real depth," Jones said after Dallas' 40-37 overtime win over the Giants. "And he's very credible and he'll help us. It's the kind of thing that we will continue to do. It's a lot of the reason we handle our roster the way that we have it, so we can do these kinds of things."

The Cowboys had just one sack of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in the season opener (by Marshawn Kneeland). They sacked Giants quarterback Russell Wilson three times Sunday, but Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns.

Parsons has 1.5 sacks in two games with the Packers, who acquired the edge rusher from the Cowboys for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027. Parsons also has four quarterback hurries.

The Cowboys have expressed confidence in their pass rushers with the group of Kneeland, Dante Fowler Jr., Sam Williams, Donovan Ezeiruaku and James Houston. Coach Brian Schottenheimer, who was an assistant with the Seattle Seahawks when Clowney played for them, said last week the possible addition would be more about making the group stronger.

Clowney, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, had 5.5 sacks last year with the Carolina Panthers. He was released on May 8. In 11 seasons, he has 58 sacks, 139 quarterback hits, 409 tackles and 15 forced fumbles.
