Sixteen teams will compete in the $50,000 Apex Legends tournament beginning Friday, FACEIT announced.
According to FACEIT, the eight-event tournament is the "first officially-licensed @PlayApex tournament." The location hasn't been announced.
It will consist of a series of $5,000 tournaments stretched over eight weeks. The remaining $10,000 in prize money will go to the highest scoring team in the event.
Among the teams receiving invitations are Cloud9, 100 Thieves, TSM, Team Liquid, CLG Gaming, Gen.G, Misfits, Immortals, NRG, CompLexity, Dignitas, Fnatic, G2 Esports and T1.
The final two spots will be decided via qualifying.
The final event is slated for July 26.
