The first full day of Get On My Level comes to a close; Doubles came to an end and the singles bracket was trimmed down from 512 entrants to 96. Top players showcased their skills in the early rounds of pools with plenty of four stocks against other players. In the surprise of the day, Canadian native, Sean "Phake" Rodseri defeated Hendrick "DJ Nintendo" Pilar 2-1 to advance into the Top 96 bracket in winners. The rest of the top players went undefeated, going into day 2.

The Power of Friendship

After a disappointing fourth place finish at Smash Summit 2, Team PewFat (Zachary "SFAT" Cordoni and Kevin "PewPewU" Toy) had their eyes on redemption in doubles. In winners semis, they defeated Adam "Armada" Lindgren and Dajuan "Shroomed" McDaniel 3-1 to advance into winners finals. On the other side of the bracket, William "Leffen" Hjelte and Juan "Hungrybox" Debiedma muscled their way into winner's finals.

The winners finals match would pit two individual powerhouses against two long time friends. Things looked dire for PewFat after falling losing the first two games. Hungrybox found pivotal rests that killed any of PewFat's momentum. With their backs against the wall, SFAT and PewPewU continued to fight and tied the set at 2-2. In game five, Hungrybox found another early rest to take a lead, but PewFat persevered to take the set and a ticket into grand finals.

In losers, Team Norwalk (Joseph "Mango" Marquez and Joey "Lucky" Aldama) made an amazing run, switching away from their Falco and Fox team composition to a more aggressive double Fox team. They swept Armada and Shroomed 3-0 in losers semis and proceeded to defeat Leffen and Hungrybox in a close set to advance into grand finals.

Team Norwalk continued their momentum with fantastic play from both Lucky and Mango. Their double Fox team suffocated PewPewU's Marth and forced SFAT to play defensively. The matches went back n forth and Team Norwalk took the first set to reset the bracket. The second set brought an exciting level of team's play as the leads shifted back n forth. In the final game, Team PewFat capitalized over Team Norwalk's crucial mistakes to take the tournament - their first major win in six months.

Although doubles finished in exciting fashion, the action continues tomorrow with the top 96 trimming down to one champion.
