Chatfield channels Chucky while picking Florida (0:37)

Four-star DE Andrew Chatfield (No. 159 in ESPN 300) from Plantation, Florida, signs with the Gators. (0:37)

Florida has picked up DE Andrew Chatfield on national signing day. Below, see what type of defender the Gators are getting:

What he brings: Chatfield can be an explosive defender capable of getting upfield and after the quarterback. He doesn't possess great physical stature but is a prospect with very good functional strength as well good arm length. A strength of the four-star prospect is his get-off, as he possesses very good first-step quickness, which can allow him to be a disruptive presence. Aided by his initial quickness, he can be a productive pass-rusher, and while he needs to continue to refine hand usage, he displays good body control to work a tight path and also flashes speed-to-power capabilities. Chatfield can also be productive against the run, flashing good fight at the point of attack when he stays low as well as good range.

How he fits: Capable of being a disruptive pass-rusher, ultimately Chatfield will fit just fine in Gators' 3-4 scheme as an OLB. We see him being used more in a situational pass-rusher role early on and a three-down player in time as he develops more run anchor strength.

Reminds us of: Chatfield reminds us some of former Tennessee DE Corey Vereen, in that like the former Vols defender, Chatfield lacks great size but is a productive player with good initial quickness and power.
