Under Armour All-American Nicholas Petit-Frere, the nation's top-ranked offensive tackle, is headed to Ohio State. Continue reading to see what Petit-Frere adds to the Buckeyes' O-Line:
What he brings: The five-star player is a lengthy, athletic and physical tackle. He needs to continue to fill out, but has a big frame to develop and demonstrates very good functional strength. He is a flexible and agile big man who can come off and gain physical leverage, control and push defenders off the line with strong knee drive. The top-ranked tackle also possesses good range and can be effective pulling and working to the second level. He possesses the tools to protect the edge with quick feet and good balance. A mild-mannered prospect off the field, Petit-Frere can flip a switch when he steps on it, is tenacious, and finishes blocks.
How he fits: This is a talented big man with the tools to develop into an excellent left tackle at Ohio State. He has the athleticism to challenge for early playing time in the Buckeye's offense, and with 2018 not being one of the stronger years at the position, it makes the addition of Petit-Frere even more impactful.
Reminds us of: The top OT in this class reminds us some of the No. 1 OT in the 2016 class, Greg Little. The Ole Miss tackle carried more size on his frame, but was a big man with good length, feet and a physical style. He also was a quick contributor for the Rebels. Petit-Frere needs to add some more mass, but is arguably a bit more flexible and agile, and, like Little, could be a productive contributor as a true freshman.
