Scout's Take: OLB Ge'Mon Eaford to Oregon

OLB Ge'Mon Eaford has committed to Oregon, becoming the fifth top 100 recruit for the Ducks' 2019 class. Continue reading to see how this Sunshine State product could be utilized in Eugene:

What he brings: Disruptive edge player. Eaford is not a "measurables" guy; he's a better pure football player and very productive at that. Plays bigger and faster between the white lines than he projects on paper. Displays very good instincts and a quick upfield jump on the football to get in pursuit. A more effective run-and-hit type with good feel for blitzing and coming off the edge as a pass-rusher.

How he fits: In Jim Leavitt's 3-4 defense, we project Eaford will start outside and utilize his tools as a pass-rusher, despite that he lacks ideal height and length for that position. He could very well continue to physically develop and add the bulk necessary to play the inside linebacker position for the Ducks.

Who he reminds us of: Clemson's Kendall Joseph had a similar size and playing style out of high school. Both are stout, explosive edge-rushers with excellent toughness and productivity. Joseph's skill set transferred over to college, and Eaford's should as well.

How this class is shaping up: The Ducks are successfully raiding California in the 2019 cycle under coach Mario Cristobal. No. 1 cornerback Mykael Wright was a massive victory, while ESPN 300 outside linebacker Mase Funa, ESPN 300 running back Sean Dollars and four-star defensive tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson all play for high school power Mater Dei. ESPN 300 athlete Jeremiah Criddell is another impactful win out of California who could end up in the secondary. More key wins out of California are ESPN 300 WR Mycah Pittman, four-star WR Jaron Waters and three-star running back Jayvaun Wilson. Tight end Patrick Herbert is a nice win out of the home state, while the Ducks headed north to Washington for the quarterback in the class, three-star Cale Millen. ESPN 300 WRs Joshua Delgado and Lance Wilhoite will bring a nice size-and-speed combo to Eugene.
