UA jersey tour: DT Michail Carter

WATCH: Michail Carter UA jersey presentation

ESPN 300 defensive lineman Michail Carter received his Under Armour All-America game jersey presented by American Family Insurance on Friday in front of teammates, coaches, faculty and friends at Jackson (Georgia) High School.

The 10th-ranked defensive tackle and the 44th player overall in the ESPN 300 said it has always been a goal of his to play in one of the top All-American games in the country.

“It means a lot to me, being that I’m the first player from my county to be selected to play in this game,” Carter said. "It’s a wonderful feeling and I’m truly blessed to play in the game.”

While his work on the field has earned him a spot in the Under Armour All-America game, Carter admits what he does in his free time is equally as important.

"I volunteer for the Big Brother’s program here in Jackson, but I also hep the rec kids with the sports,” Carter said. "I’ve just been doing it full time this year but I’ve been helping out some ever since I started high school. It’s just something I like to do and like being a positive influence on the local kids."

Carter is one of the most highly coveted prospects in the Southeast, but for now, Carter wants to take the recruiting process slow and concentrate on his high school teams season.

"I really don’t want to have a list of top schools until I take some of my official visits,” he said. "I don’t have any official visits set up yet. I just want to focus on our season at this point. I already went to the Alabama - Ole Miss game and recently went to the Georgia - Alabama game. I’m planning on going to the Alabama - LSU game and the Georgia -Auburn game.

“I’m in no rush though. I plan to take my visits and just see how they go."

Q&A with Michail Carter

What is your first football memory?

Carter: I remember when I first started playing football when i was in the rec league I didn’t know how to put on my equipment and my dad having to help me put on all my stuff. That’s probably my first memory.

If you could start a team with any other player in this class who would it be and why?

Carter: I’ve had the chance to talk to Rashard Lawrence at the Alabama camp and our relationship and the way we mesh and the way we had a good chemistry from the first time we met — so I’d have to say Rashard.

If you could play 1-on-1 with any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

Carter: I’d have to say I’d like to play 1-on-1 against Shaq [O’Neal]. He’s so big and physical so if I lose, no one would hold it against me. I just like his personality and what a positive influence he is on people.

What number do you wear in high school and is there a reason why you wear that number?

Carter: I wear No. 76. There’s not really a reason why I wear it. I just like the number I guess.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Carter: A lot of people don’t know this but I’m very artistic. I showed my mom one of my drawings yesterday and she couldn’t even believe that I drew it.
