Substitute Elliot List snatched a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Gillingham a battling point from a 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers.The 74th-minute replacement for Tom Eaves found room in a crowded penalty area to fire under diving goalkeeper Sam Slocombe in the fourth minute of added time.Rovers had looked set to take all three points when one of their substitutes, Dom Telford, headed them in front after 86 minutes, latching onto the rebound when his initial shot was blocked.But Gillingham never gave up and earned a share of the spoils from a drab end-of-season game.Both sides went close in the first half. Eaves hit a post against his old club with a 26th-minute shot and Lee Martin was adjudged to be offside when netting from the rebound.At the other end, Tom Nichols grazed an upright with a 30-yard drive after a neat turn to lose his marker and Ellis Harrison shot wide after latching onto a short back-pass from Bradley Garmston.

Kyle Vassell set Blackpool on their way to a fourth League One victory in as many games with a dominant 3-0 win over struggling Gillingham.Having earlier hit the bar with a powerful header, Vassell fired home the opener after debutant goalkeeper Tom Hadler spilled Jimmy Ryan's 25-yard shot.Scorer turned provider for the visitors after 33 minutes, as Vassell's drilled cross was met by the onrushing Nathan Delfouneso, who guided the ball past the luckless Hadler.Midfielder Jay Spearing missed the chance to add to the Seasiders' lead three minutes after the break, as he hit the post from the penalty spot after Tom Eaves had needlessly fouled Curtis Tilt.But substitute Kelvin Mellor tapped in Armand Gnanduillet's cross to seal the win for Gary Bowyer's side seven minutes from time.Gills striker Eaves had the out-of-form hosts' best chance of the opening half with a header from 12 yards in stoppage time.Josh Parker fired over the bar from 25 yards shortly after the break for Gillingham, who have now gone over six-and-a-half hours without scoring at home.

Rotherham all-but sealed their League One play-off place with a 1-0 win at Gillingham.Will Vaulks scored the only goal of the game, but the Millers missed a host of other chances as they move to - in all likelihood - one more victory of a guaranteed place in the top six.Paul Warne's men weathered an early Gills storm, which saw Conor Wilkinson head just over, and took the lead in the 20th minute.Right-back Josh Emmanuel surged down the right and fed it to Michael Smith, who teed it up for Vaulks to smash home from 20 yards.Richard Wood came close to doubling the lead soon after half-time when he ran out of defence all the way to the edge of the area, where his low shot was tipped around the post by Tomas Holy, with Wood's header from the resulting corner blocked.The game should have been over in the 67th minute when Vaulks produced a defence-splitting pass for Ryan Williams, who raced through on goal but dragged his shot wide.Williams also put a free header wide and then Smith wasted the opportunity of the match, blazing wide from Jon Taylor's cross, but the missed chances did not prove costly.

Eaves makes Oldham pay the penalty as Gillingham snatch point

Gillingham scored a controversial injury-time penalty to snatch a 1-1 draw at relegation-threatened Oldham.Duckens Nazon put the Latics on course for a crucial win but there was late drama as they had Wilfried Moimbe sent off before Tom Eaves levelled from the spot.Visiting goalkeeper Tomas Holy made two fine saves in the first half, rushing off his line to deny Nazon and somehow blocking George Edmundson's header.At the other end, Gillingham went close to a breakthrough when Conor Wilkinson forced Johny Placide to beat away his angled shot.Oldham took the lead moments before half-time as Jack Byrne found Nazon, who battled his way into the penalty area and drove inside the far post from 12 yards.Wilkinson was inches away from a Gills equaliser before, on the hour, Placide did superbly to grab Jake Hessenthaler's goalbound header.Oldham wasted chances to double the lead and they were punished in the 90th minute when referee Michael Salisbury pointed to the spot after an off-the-ball incident involving Moimbe.The defender received a straight red card and Eaves drilled home the resulting penalty.

Gillingham and Doncaster share goalless draw

Conor Wilkinson missed Gillingham's best chances to snatch victory but they ended a run of three successive defeats with a 0-0 draw against fellow League One mid-table outfit Doncaster.Striker Wilkinson came the closest for the hosts, who are now winless at home in four games, when he headed on to the roof of the net from Bradley Garmston's cross.The 23-year-old also dispossessed Rovers goalkeeper Marko Marosi but was unable to fire into the empty net from a difficult angle after 35 minutes.Captain Gabriel Zakuani headed wide from Navid Nasseri's corner while Ben Nugent saw his effort from a Garmston free-kick deflected away from goal.Midfielder Tommy Rowe threatened for Donny, most notably when he dragged a low, right-footed effort inches past the post shortly after the break. He had earlier tested Gills goalkeeper Tomas Holy with a powerful strike.Alfie Beestin shot over after leading a counter-attack from midfield for Darren Ferguson's side, who have lost just once in their last six games, while Niall Mason later fired straight at Holy from 15 yards as both sides were forced to settle for a point.

Southend run riot in first half to hammer Gillingham

Southend scored four times in the first 40 minutes to seal an emphatic 4-0 victory over Gillingham.Michael Turner, Theo Robinson and Michael Kightly were all on-target before 20 minutes had been played while Stephen McLaughlin added a fourth before Gills striker Lee Martin saw red on the stroke of half-time.The Shrimpers were looking to respond to their own 4-0 humbling at Plymouth on Friday and made a fantastic start as Turner headed home in the eighth minute from McLaughlin's left-wing corner.Three minutes later, Southend doubled their lead when Robinson lashed a volley from inside the area beyond Gillingham goalkeeper Tomas Holy, who had moments earlier kept out Ben Coker's effort.Southend went further ahead in the 18th minute when Kightly headed home after a stunning strike from McLaughlin had struck the underside of the crossbar.McLaughlin also worked his way onto the scoresheet five minutes before half-time, heading home a right-wing corner from Kightly.Gillingham's misery was further compounded when Martin was given his marching orders for a poor challenge on Robinson just before the interval. The visitors managed to avoid conceding in the second half but the damage was already done as they crashed to a third successive defeat in Sky Bet League One.

MK Dons leave it late to beat Gillingham

George Williams struck five minutes from time as struggling MK Dons defeated Gillingham 2-1 to claim their first away win in Sky Bet League One for almost six months.The three points were enough to lift the Dons out of the relegation zone ahead of difficult fixtures against promotion-chasing Blackburn and Wigan.MK Dons came close just after the half-hour mark, as Ed Upson's low effort from the edge of the area drew a good save out of Gills goalkeeper Tomas Holy.But the visitors did go ahead when Kieran Agard helped the ball through for Chuks Aneke, who burst into the space ahead of him before finishing confidently into the bottom corner.Gillingham hit back four minutes before half-time when a lovely cross by Bradley Garmston was headed in at the back post, on his full debut, by Navid Nasseri.Aneke had a good effort beaten away by Holy before the Dons snatched the win when Upson played through Williams, who got just enough power on his shot to find the net.
