Thanksgiving game takeaways

Bears (8-3) at Eagles (8-3)

Friday, 3 p.m. ET | Prime Video
ESPN BET: PHI -7 (44.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Bears: Chicago has completely revamped its offense under coach Ben Johnson. The Bears rank in the top 10 in scoring (25.6 points per game), leads the league with 87 explosive plays and is generating over 90 more yards per game than a season ago. Keeping those figures against Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio provides a unique set of challenges. "They do a really good job of keeping a shell over you," offensive coordinator Declan Doyle said. "They force you to try to run the ball. Their whole goal is to eliminate explosives. Our goal offensively when we go in is really to be explosive. They've kind of modeled their defense to be the antithesis of what we're trying to get done." -- Courtney Cronin

What we're hearing on the Eagles: The Eagles suffered multiple injuries in the secondary against the Cowboys, which factored into Dallas' comeback win. They'll be without at least rookie safety Andrew Mukuba (ankle) as they face quarterback Caleb Williams. "Kudos to [Johnson] and his staff for bringing that young quarterback along who I don't think ever played under center in college," Fangio said. "He's doing a great job, and they have fought through any of the pitfalls of that and now they've got a quarterback that is executing their offense the way they want to." -- Tim McManus

Stat to know: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert's career-high seven touchdown receptions this season are tied with the Cardinals' Trey McBride and the Cowboys' Jake Ferguson for the most among TEs. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: The Bears will hit multiple 30-plus-yard gains off play-action. Chicago runs play-action 30% of the time, the fourth-highest rate in the league. And while the Eagles' defense is strong against the pass, Philadelphia has allowed 0.33 EPA per play-action play, second worst in the NFL. -- Walder

Injuries: Bears | Eagles

Fantasy nugget: Eagles WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith combined for 21 targets in Week 12 and 39.9 fantasy points. Philadelphia's passing game has been inconsistent all season and ranks near the bottom of the league in pass attempts per game, but the Eagles' top receivers now get a Bears defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wideouts. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Bears are 4-1 ATS (against the spread) in their past five games as underdogs. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Eagles 35, Bears 10
Moody's pick: Eagles 27, Bears 21
Walder's pick: Eagles 24, Bears 20
FPI prediction: PHI, 68.3% (by an average of 7.2 points)

Texans (6-5) at Colts (8-3)

1 p.m. ET | CBS
ESPN BET: IND -4.5 (44.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Texans: This week is most likely going to be the return of QB C.J. Stroud, who missed three games with a concussion. The Texans survived in his absence, going 3-0 as the defense and backup QB Davis Mills found ways to win. Now with Stroud back, Houston is primed to make a playoff run or even steal the division if it can beat the Colts in their two head-to-head matchups. -- DJ Bien-Aime

What we're hearing on the Colts: Indianapolis has played just two division games -- both against the Titans -- making this the first of four AFC South games in the final six games. QB Daniel Jones is coming off an underwhelming performance against the Chiefs, posting his lowest passing total (181 yards) and yards-per-attempt figure (5.8) of the season. Houston's dominant defense poses one of the toughest tests the Colts have faced, and a big key will be whether they can get NFL rushing leader Jonathan Taylor back on track after the Chiefs limited him to 58 rushing yards. -- Stephen Holder

Stat to know: Texans edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. has gone six straight games with a sack, tied with Mario Williams (2007) for second-longest streak in Texans history (J.J. Watt, seven straight spanning 2014-15 seasons). -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Colts WR Alec Pierce will bounce back with a 40-plus-yard reception. While the Texans have good CBs, teams tend to attack them deep and outside: 19% of targets against Houston are at least 15 yards downfield and outside the numbers, the second-highest rate in the league. -- Walder

Win for Jim: How the Colts carry on Jim Irsay's legacy

Hannah Storm profiles the Colts' new tradition of carrying a guitar into every game as a tribute to owner Jim Irsay, who died in June.

Injuries: Texans | Colts

Fantasy nugget: The Texans' defense has not been kind to opposing QBs, allowing just 11.5 fantasy points per game, the fewest in the league. The Colts would be wise to lean heavily on Taylor on the ground. That approach could also create opportunities for TE Tyler Warren on play-action, where Jones has thrived. Only Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold, Jared Goff, Caleb Williams and Drake Maye have more play-action passing yards than Jones in 2025. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Colts are 5-1 ATS at home. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Colts 22, Texans 10
Moody's pick: Colts 24, Texans 19
Walder's pick: Colts 23, Texans 17
FPI prediction: IND, 64.3% (by an average of 5.7 points)

Matchup must-reads: Colts QB Jones needs to regain form vs. Texans

Rams (9-2) at Panthers (6-6)

1 p.m. ET | Fox
ESPN BET: LAR -10.5 (44.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Rams: WR Davante Adams has 12 receiving touchdowns, which is the most in the NFL. Nine of his 12 receiving scores have been in goal-to-go situations, which is already the second most in his career, according to ESPN Research. "He's been a problem at the line of scrimmage well before he got here," Rams OC Mike LaFleur said. "He's ... probably the best release guy [since he got into the league] and he's still doing it ... Dude's still got a lot of juice in that body, as you guys can see." -- Sarah Barshop

What we're hearing on the Panthers: RB Rico Dowdle posted a cryptic emoji on X the morning after getting only six carries in a loss to the 49ers. When asked why he called a pass on first-and-goal from the 1-yard line, coach Dave Canales admitted that he needs to stay more committed to the running game. Ball control will be especially important against the high-scoring Rams, who are averaging 30.5 points during their six-game winning streak. Keep Matthew Stafford & Co. off the field, and you have a chance. -- David Newton

Stat to know: The Panthers are 3-1 when QB Bryce Young records at least 6.0 yards per attempt. They are 3-4 when he records fewer than 6.0 YPA. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Young will make fewer than 10 first-half pass attempts. Not only are the Panthers one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL with the second-lowest pass rate over expectation (minus-8%), per NFL Next Gen Stats, but the Rams' defense has the third-lowest pass rate over expectation against them (minus-7%). -- Walder

Injuries: Rams | Panthers

Fantasy nugget: Stafford is playing some of the best football of his career. He has scored at least 22 fantasy points in three of his past four games, including two with 26 or more. Stafford also has one of the league's top WR duos in Puka Nacua and Adams, and he leads the league in red zone pass attempts. Even though the Panthers allow the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs, Stafford remains firmly on the QB1 radar this week. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Rams are 8-2 ATS as favorites, 4-1 ATS on the road and 4-0 ATS as road favorites. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Rams, 27, Panthers 12
Moody's pick: Rams 34, Panthers 20
Walder's pick: Rams 27, Panthers 13
FPI prediction: LAR, 71.4% (by an average of 8.6 points)

Matchup must-reads: Young, Panthers can't repeat mistakes against Rams ... NFL suspends Panthers' Moehrig one game for low blow

Cardinals (3-8) at Buccaneers (6-5)

1 p.m. ET | Fox
ESPN BET: TB -3.5 (44.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Cardinals: WR Michael Wilson is expected to have another significant role in the offense, whether or not Marvin Harrison Jr. returns this week from an appendectomy. That comes after Wilson had 303 yards and 25 catches in the past two games without Harrison. If Harrison does play, then Wilson will be looked at more than he was before the past two weeks, said coach Jonathan Gannon, who has long talked about riding the hot hand. "Throw it to the guys that are making plays for you. Absolutely," Gannon said. -- Josh Weinfuss

What we're hearing on the Buccaneers: The Bucs are in the midst of a three-game slide, though we've seen them climb out of bigger midseason holes before. However, this time QB Baker Mayfield is dealing with a low-grade sprained AC joint in his left non-throwing shoulder. He's never missed a game with Tampa Bay, so he's either going to be limited or backup QB Teddy Bridgewater will step in. The Bucs need this win to gain some ground on the Panthers, who are now just a half-game behind in the NFC South. -- Jenna Laine

Stat to know: Cardinals TE Trey McBride has 13 straight games with five-plus catches, tied for the longest streak in franchise history (Larry Fitzgerald in 2008). -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving will return with a bang, recording 100 or more rushing yards. Tampa Bay runs inside zone 30% of the time, fourth most, while the Cardinals have struggled against inside zone runs, allowing 5.0 yards per carry on those plays. -- Walder

What Stephen A. expects from Shedeur against the 49ers

Stephen A. Smith is optimistic that Shedeur Sanders will play well against the 49ers.

Injuries: Cardinals | Buccaneers

Fantasy nugget: Wilson has exploded with elite volume, drawing 18 targets in Week 11 and 15 more in Week 12. He's in another strong spot against a Bucs defense that allows the sixth-most receiving yards to wideouts. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: All four Buccaneers home games have gone over the total. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Buccaneers 23, Cardinals 17
Moody's pick: Cardinals 27, Buccaneers 17
Walder's pick: Buccaneers 27, Cardinals 16
FPI prediction: TB, 62.9% (by an average of 5.2 points)

49ers (8-4) at Browns (3-8)

1 p.m. ET | CBS
ESPN BET: SF -4.5 (36.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the 49ers: While this might look like a favorable game on paper for the 49ers, history suggests otherwise. San Francisco hasn't won in Cleveland since 1984, a streak of four straight defeats. And Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has given Niners coach Kyle Shanahan's offense fits. In three games against Shanahan's Niners, Schwartz defenses have limited San Francisco to 15.7 points, 290 yards and 4.6 yards per play. Throw in the potential for rain or snow, conditions in which QB Brock Purdy has a career 49.1 QBR, and this figures to be a tough test. "Jim's as good of a coordinator as there is," Shanahan said. "And when you're as good of a coordinator as there is and you have the talent that they have, it's a pretty lethal combination." -- Nick Wagoner

What we're hearing on the Browns: The Browns are sticking with QB Shedeur Sanders after he helped spark Cleveland's passing game in his first start. The Browns still struggled on a play-by-play basis, though, registering their second-lowest down set conversion rate in a game this season (50%). Sanders joked about how much better he would be after a full offseason of reps; he now gets another week as QB1 to improve and try to pull off an upset at home. "Are there things that he can do better? Absolutely," coach Kevin Stefanski said. "We've already talked about that with him. He has the mentality that he will make the adjustments to the speed of the game, make the adjustments to what people are giving us, to make those improvements." -- Daniel Oyefusi

Stat to know: Browns edge Myles Garrett has 14.0 sacks in his past five games -- the most sacks by any player over a five-game span since 1982 when player sacks became official. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Browns WR Jerry Jeudy will record six or more receptions, at least tying his season high. Jeudy has never had elite hands, but ESPN's receiver scores give him a catch score of 2 -- worst among all WRs or TEs. He should be better going forward. -- Walder

Dolphins CB to McAfee: Things are starting to work the way they should for us

Dolphins cornerback Jack Jones joins Pat McAfee to discuss the team's improvement after a tough start to the season.

Injuries: 49ers | Browns

Fantasy nugget: The Browns' defense allows the second-fewest fantasy points to RBs and leads the league in run stop win rate (36.2%), making this a tough rushing matchup for Christian McCaffrey. He has still scored at least 27 fantasy points in three of his past four games, even with only 3.7 yards per carry this season, because he's done most of his damage as a receiver. McCaffrey has averaged 6.7 receptions and 65.4 receiving yards per game. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The 49ers are 5-0 outright and 4-1 ATS against teams with losing records. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: 49ers 21, Browns17
Moody's pick: 49ers 31, Browns 16

Jaguars (7-4) at Titans (1-10)

1 p.m. ET | CBS
ESPN BET: JAX -6.5 (41.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Jaguars: Coach Liam Coen called out the pass rush after the Week 10 loss to Houston, and the Jaguars responded. They have posted nine sacks the past two weeks -- the fourth-highest total in the league -- and a league-high 32 QB hits. A part of that is due to facing a couple of beat-up offensive lines (Chargers, Cardinals), but the Jaguars went from last in the NFL with 12 sacks to 25th with 21. The pass rush is surging at the right time because Titans QB Cam Ward is the most-sacked QB in the NFL (45). -- Michael DiRocco

What we're hearing on the Titans: Ward continues to develop as a passer. He has led the Titans on late scoring drives to pull within one score in back-to-back games despite losing both. The Jaguars' defense is allowing 9.6 points per game in the fourth quarter, 29th worst in the league. So this could be the week when Ward leads Tennessee on a late scoring drive that results in a win. -- Turron Davenport

Stat to know: Ward set bests in Total QBR in each of the past two weeks (60.1 in Week 11; 75.1 in Week 12) after starting his career with nine straight games with a QBR under 40. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Jaguars WR Parker Washington will record his third career 90-plus-yard receiving game. Two of the three outside CBs the Titans have been playing in recent weeks -- Darrell Baker Jr. and Jalyn Armour-Davis -- are each allowing 1.5 yards per coverage snap, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That's well above the 1.1 average for an outside corner. -- Walder

Injuries: Jaguars | Titans

Fantasy nugget: Travis Etienne Jr. and the Jaguars' running game could take center stage behind an offensive line that ranks third in run block win rate (74.3%). They face a Titans defense that allows the fifth-most fantasy points per game to RBs. Etienne has averaged 20.5 touches and 18.0 fantasy points over his past four games. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Titans have covered three straight games. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Jaguars 28, Titans 27
Moody's pick: Jaguars 25, Titans 13
Walder's pick: Jaguars 24, Titans 14
FPI prediction: JAX, 66.9% (by an average of 6.9 points)

Matchup must-reads: Armstead is giving back to Jacksonville on and off field ... Ward's best game yet? No. 1 pick continues to progress ... Jags' Lawrence owns INTs but won't 'play scared'

Falcons (4-7) at Jets (2-9)

1 p.m. ET | Fox
ESPN BET: ATL -2.5 (39.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Falcons: Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will return to MetLife Stadium, where he was the Jets' DC for four seasons and then interim coach for a part of 2024. He'll bring with him a revamped defense that has 39 sacks, the third-highest total in the league and more sacks than Atlanta had in six of the past seven seasons. Ulbrich has helped get the most out of players like second-year DL Brandon Dorlus, who barely played as a rookie and now leads the team with six sacks. -- Marc Raimondi

What we're hearing on the Jets: New York looks to improve to 3-0 against backup QBs as it faces Kirk Cousins. Chances are, this will come down to how well they defend RB Bijan Robinson. The Jets have allowed a league-low 2.7 yards per rush over the past two games, including a solid performance last week against Derrick Henry (64 yards on 21 carries). -- Rich Cimini

Stat to know: The Falcons have recorded four straight games with at least five sacks. They look to become the fourth team since 1963 (when team sacks became official) with a five-game five-sack streak. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Jets OT Armand Membou will record a 100% pass block win rate. After starting the season on fire, Membou has settled in with a 91% pass block win rate that ranks 22nd out of 68 qualifiers. Leonard Floyd, who Membou should see more than anyone else, is an experienced pass rusher but not an elite threat. -- Walder

Injuries: Falcons | Jets

Fantasy nugget: It makes sense for the Jets to lean heavily on RB Breece Hall and an offensive line that ranks 10th in run block win rate (71.7%), especially with WRs Garrett Wilson (knee) and Josh Reynolds (hip) on injured reserve. Hall has averaged 19.3 touches and 13.9 fantasy points per game over his past three outings. Atlanta's defense gives up the 10th-most fantasy points per game to RBs. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Jets are 4-1 ATS in their past five games as underdogs. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Falcons 16, Jets 13

Saints (2-9) at Dolphins (4-7)

1 p.m. ET | Fox
ESPN BET: MIA -6 (42.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Saints: Saints RB Alvin Kamara injured his knee on Sunday after it twisted awkwardly while he was being tackled in the first quarter. Taysom Hill took over a lot of things in the run game, despite not practicing it much. But if Kamara is out this week, expect to see a lot of rookie RB Devin Neal in both the run game and the passing game. Neal caught five passes after Kamara left the game Sunday. -- Katherine Terrell

What we're hearing on the Dolphins: For the first time this season, the Dolphins might have starting RT Austin Jackson available. He has been on injured reserve with a toe injury, but his 21-day window to return opened in Week 11. LT Patrick Paul said Jackson's return "gives us a spark" and that he is "someone who is very impactful in the game and just a great person to have on the field." Miami ranks 24th in pass block win rate (58.6%) and 28th in run block win rate (69.5%) -- but both figures should improve with Jackson in the lineup. -- Marcel Louis-Jacques

Stat to know: Dolphins RB De'Von Achane is seeking his third straight game with 100 rushing yards and at least five receptions. The last player to do this in three straight games was Ezekiel Elliott in 2018. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Saints edge Chase Young will record a sack. Young has 4.0 sacks in six games this season and a 22% pass rush win rate at edge, which would rank in the top five if he played enough to qualify. -- Walder

Fantasy nugget: Saints TE Juwan Johnson has been an important part of the offense recently. Over his past five games, he's averaged 6.0 targets and 13.0 fantasy points. The Saints could face a negative game script against the Dolphins, and Miami's defense allows the fifth-most fantasy points per game to TEs. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Vikings (4-7) at Seahawks (8-3)

4:05 p.m. ET | Fox
ESPN BET: SEA -11.5 (41.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Vikings: Minnesota is likely to have its third different starting QB of the season Sunday. The Vikings didn't intend for rookie Max Brosmer to get on the field after signing him as an undrafted free agent in May. But injuries to J.J. McCarthy (concussion) and Carson Wentz (shoulder) make Brosmer the likely starter in Seattle. Coaches believe Brosmer, who is actually two years older than McCarthy after six seasons in college, has the maturity and the processing ability to run a modified version of their offense. Coach Kevin O'Connell said Brosmer has been seeing things at a veteran-level type of eye progression. -- Kevin Seifert

What we're hearing on the Seahawks: One of Sam Darnold's takeaways from his four-interception performance in Week 11 was that he needed to do a better job of working through his progressions and not getting stuck on his first or second read. Coach Mike Macdonald liked how he did that against the Titans, as Darnold didn't turn the ball over after giving it away 10 times over the previous four games. Darnold may not have as much time operate in the pocket against his former team, as Minnesota leads in the NFL in blitz rate (44.5%). Said defensive coordinator Brian Flores of Darnold: "We had a great rapport, friendship. I'm happy for him, but we will blitz him this week." -- Brady Henderson

Stat to know: The Vikings have lost five of their past six games, averaging 16.8 points per game. They are tied for the fifth-lowest PPG in the NFL during that span (since Week 7). -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Seahawks edge Boye Mafe will record a sack. He has only one this season, but his 19% pass rush win rate at edge is above average, and Seattle's run-stopping unit will surely force plenty of third-and-longs. -- Walder

Injuries: Vikings | Seahawks

Fantasy nugget: Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III has seen at least 13 touches in each of the past four games, including one with 19. He's averaged 12.3 fantasy points during that stretch. Seattle's offensive line has been dominant, ranking sixth in run block win rate (73.1%). The Seahawks are double-digit favorites, which sets up an ideal game script for Walker and the running game. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Bills (7-4) at Steelers (6-5)

4:25 p.m. ET | CBS
ESPN BET: BUF -3.5 (46.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Bills: Protecting the football will be paramount for the Bills. Not only is this game on the road, where the Bills have scored fewer than 20 points in all three road losses, but Pittsburgh is tied for second in the NFL in takeaways (20). Buffalo has three straight games with three turnovers, the team's longest single-season streak since 2006. Four straight would be the longest since 1986. This is a significant game for Buffalo as December nears, so stopping, or even limiting, this recent trend will go a long way. -- Alaina Getzenberg

What we're hearing on the Steelers: Pittsburgh will be without LT Broderick Jones (neck) as QB Aaron Rodgers attempts to return with a fractured left wrist, but perhaps an even more impactful absence is rookie DT Derrick Harmon. Though the first-round pick didn't exit early in the loss to Chicago, he sustained a knee injury that will keep him out against Buffalo. Led by RB James Cook III and his 98.2 yards per game, the Bills lead the NFL with 147.2 rushing yards per game. The Steelers run defense has improved recently, holding teams to an average of 105.0 yards per game. Harmon will be replaced by rookie Yahya Black and new acquisition Brodric Martin-Rhodes. -- Brooke Pryor

Stat to know: The Steelers have five games where they've allowed 30-plus points this season, tied for the most in a season under coach Mike Tomlin (five in 2013). -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Bills WR Khalil Shakir will record at least 90 receiving yards. Steelers nickel corner Brandin Echols is allowing 1.4 yards per coverage snap, the second-most among slot corners with at least 150 coverage snaps, per NFL Next Gen Stats. -- Walder

Fantasy nugget: The Bills' defensive front ranks 19th in run stop win rate (29.7%) and has given up the eighth-most fantasy points per game to RBs. Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is in a great spot behind an offensive line that ranks eighth in run block win rate (72.2%). The Bills are a tough matchup for opposing QBs, allowing the fewest pass attempts in the league, which should further funnel Pittsburgh toward the run. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Raiders (2-9) at Chargers (7-4)

4:25 p.m. ET | CBS
ESPN BET: LAC -8.5 (40.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Raiders: Will the Raiders look different under interim offensive coordinator Greg Olson? That's what coach Pete Carroll is hoping. A part of the disconnect between Carroll and former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was not sticking to the run game. If Las Vegas wants to create some kind of momentum heading toward the offseason, it begins with relying heavily on rookie RB Ashton Jeanty. The No. 6 overall pick has only crossed 100 rushing yards once (Week 4). -- Ryan McFadden

What we're hearing on the Chargers: The offensive line has been this team's Achilles' heel all season, and changes could be coming again this week. Los Angeles had Jamaree Salyer at LT during practice Tuesday, a position that has become a revolving door since Joe Alt's season-ending ankle injury. "I feel like we're as healthy as we've been since Joe," coach Jim Harbaugh said. "The hope is to solidify it from now to the rest of the season, and also put in the contingencies. -- Kris Rhim

Stat to know: Raiders QB Geno Smith has three straight games with a Total QBR 20 or lower; a fourth straight would be the longest streak since Jared Goff's five straight from Weeks 13-17 in the 2016 season. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Raiders LB Devin White will record at least 12 tackles, as I expect the Chargers to get out to an early lead and then pass as infrequently as possible against the woeful Raiders. It will drain the clock and result in quite a few instances of White's name on the play-by-play. -- Walder

Injuries: Raiders | Chargers

Fantasy nugget: Chargers WR Ladd McConkey is set to deliver a huge performance against a Raiders defense that gives up the fourth-most fantasy points per game to WRs. The Chargers' O-line has been decimated by injuries, and as a result, Los Angeles ranks 30th in pass block win rate (53.6%), which could make McConkey Justin Herbert's preferred safety valve on Sunday. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Chargers are 3-0 ATS against the Raiders under Harbaugh. Read more. -- ESPN Research

Maldonado's pick: Chargers 23, Raiders 10

Broncos (9-2) at Commanders (3-8)

8:20 p.m. ET | NBC/Peacock
ESPN BET: DEN -6 (43.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Broncos: Denver has rolled out of its bye week with one of the best records in the league, but this team has two main issues -- penalties and turnover margin. Coach Sean Payton says that both are at the top of the list to repair. The Broncos entered Week 13 as the most penalized team in the league, with 113 overall (including declined penalties). The defense is the most penalized in the league, with 46, and CB Riley Moss is tied for second most in the league overall. The Broncos are also minus-3 in turnover margin -- the worst of any division leader. -- Jeff Legwold

What we're hearing on the Commanders: After a five-game stretch in which Washington faced top-10 offenses in both points and yards, the Commanders' defense was much more sound in the overtime loss to Miami before the bye. Can the Commanders build on that against an offense ranked 16th in scoring and 14th in points? Washington played a season-low five snaps of man coverage against Miami. That could continue, as Denver QB Bo Nix ranks 26th in QBR versus zone coverage and has thrown five interceptions against that look. He ranks seventh versus man coverage. -- John Keim

Stat to know: The Broncos have overcome a deficit in each of their eight games during their winning streak, tied with the 1980 Falcons for the longest streak of wins when trailing in each game in NFL history. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Broncos RBs will average at least 5.0 yards per carry. Denver has averaged 2.9 yards before contact per carry (fifth-most), and the Commanders' defense has allowed 2.9 yards before contact per carry (fourth most). -- Walder

Injuries: Broncos | Commanders

Fantasy nugget: Nix and WRs Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin all belong in lineups against a Commanders defense that's allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to QBs and the sixth most to WRs. Washington has also surrendered 13 receiving touchdowns to wideouts. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Giants (2-10) at Patriots (10-2)

Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET | ESPN
ESPN BET: NE -7.5 (46.5 O/U)

What we're hearing on the Giants: This will be the Giants' first game with new defensive coordinator Charlie Bullen, who takes over for the recently fired Shane Bowen. The expectation is the switch may bring a more aggressive approach at the line of scrimmage, whether it's with more blitzes or at least the threat of pressure. Perhaps the Giants see an opportunity to attack Patriots QB Drake Maye and their makeshift offensive line. "He does seem a bit poised," edge rusher Brian Burns said. "Maybe a little bit too poised in the pocket." -- Jordan Raanan

What we're hearing on the Patriots: With starting LT Will Campbell on injured reserve due to a right knee injury, and starting LG Jared Wilson facing longer odds to suit up due to a right ankle sprain, the Patriots will start a different top OL for the third time in 13 games. Four-year veteran Ben Brown would be Wilson's replacement, while coach Mike Vrabel would choose between four-year veteran Vederian Lowe and rookie Marcus Bryant (seventh round) at LT. Vrabel said the plan is to go through the week of practice with every player preparing as if they are a starter. -- Mike Reiss

Stat to know: The Patriots' nine-game winning streak (after winning a total of four games last season) is tied for the third-longest single-season winning streak in NFL history by a team that won four or fewer games in the previous season. -- ESPN Research

Bold prediction: Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. will record at least four receptions. The Patriots allow targets to RBs 21% of the time, the fourth-highest rate in the league. -- Walder

Injuries: Giants | Patriots

Fantasy nugget: Giants TE Theo Johnson is in a great spot for three reasons. The first is that there's a strong chance QB Jaxson Dart (concussion) is back under center. The second is that New England allows the 10th-most fantasy points per game to TEs. The third is that the Patriots are favored by more than a touchdown, which suggests the Giants will be playing from behind. See Week 13 rankings. -- Moody

Betting nugget: The Patriots have won nine straight games outright, going 7-2 ATS in that span. Read more. -- ESPN Research
