Safety Jahleel Addae is expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Chargers on a four-year deal, a league source told ESPN's Field Yates.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan in 2013, Addae started out as a special teams player and worked his way into a starting role for the Chargers.
Addae has started 27 games in four seasons, totaling 201 career tackles, three sacks and one interception.
Addae, who turned 27 in January, fits in new defensive coordinator Gus Bradley's scheme as an in-the-box safety who can serve as an imposing force in the running and passing games. At 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, Addae has the speed and range to play center fielder at free safety, and the physicality as a run defender playing close to the line of scrimmage.
However, Addae has struggled to stay on the field, missing 16 games in four seasons because of injury.
