Dan Quinn reveals that Terry McLaurin will miss the Commanders' game against the Seahawks after aggravating his quad injury. (0:37)

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin reinjured his right quad and won't play in Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. But Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is on pace to return after a one-game absence.

Washington coach Dan Quinn said the plan is for Daniels to be a full participant in practice this week after missing Monday's 28-7 loss to Kansas City because of a sore right hamstring.

It's a pivotal week for Washington (3-5), which has lost three games in a row entering Sunday night's game vs. Seattle (5-2).

Daniels, hurt in the third quarter of a Week 7 loss at Dallas, said he felt good toward the end of last week.

"But we've got to do what's best for me and my future," he said. "I would've loved to be out there, but that just wasn't a part of the plan. But I did feel good ... going into that game, and now if everything goes right, hopefully I'm out there on a Sunday night."

But McLaurin's situation is yet another blow for the Commanders, who have dealt with key injuries all season -- and it will be the fifth game McLaurin has missed. He entered having played in 72 consecutive games and had missed just three in his first six seasons combined.

Daniels, who missed two games earlier this season because of a sprained knee, said he can't fret over McLaurin's absence.

"That's just football and you've got to be able to adapt," he said. "It's very unfortunate that Terry won't be out there, but [it's the] next man up mentality."

Washington has played just two games with all three of its top three receivers available. Deebo Samuel has missed one game, while Noah Brown is on injured reserve because of a groin injury and hasn't played since Week 2. Samuel, who leads Washington with 37 catches for 326 yards, is the only one who will be available Sunday. He has dealt with a bruised heel the past three games; he had to sit out one, and in the other two he caught a combined seven passes for 26 yards.

McLaurin's last play in Monday's loss was a diving grab along the sideline with 1 minute, 59 seconds left in the third quarter. He did not return.

This is the same injury he suffered in a Week 4 win over the Raiders that sidelined him for the following four games.

Quinn said the Commanders were not putting McLaurin on injured reserve. He said the hope is that "this is not something that will knock him out for a long time."

McLaurin caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in Monday's loss. He has caught 13 passes for 203 yards and a score this season.
