Mel Kiper's top 10 prospects at each position for 2018 NFL draft

You've seen my updated Big Board, now check out my latest position rankings for the 2018 NFL draft.

This is the first one of the year that combines seniors and underclassmen, which means it's starting to get real. This is a year-round job for me, but this means we're getting into crunch time.

Enjoy:

Quarterbacks

1. *Josh Rosen, UCLA
2. **Sam Darnold, USC
3. *Josh Allen, Wyoming
4. *Lamar Jackson, Louisville
5. Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
6. *Ryan Finley, NC State
7. Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma
8. Luke Falk, Washington State
9. Mike White, Western Kentucky
10. *Clayton Thorson, Northwestern

As you've seen in my updated Big Board, Rosen has leaped Darnold. And we're getting closer to the Nov. 18 showdown between UCLA and USC. Falk's five-interception game at Cal flashed some warning signs for his NFL potential. Finley, a Boise State transfer, is an intriguing under-the-radar guy.

Running backs

1. *Saquon Barkley, Penn State
2. *Derrius Guice, LSU
3. *Damien Harris, Alabama
4. *Bryce Love, Stanford
5. *Ronald Jones II, USC
6. *Josh Adams, Notre Dame
7. Royce Freeman, Oregon
8. Nick Chubb, Georgia
9. Jaylen Samuels, NC State
10. Kalen Ballage, Arizona State

This is going to be an interesting class, with a lot depending on pre-draft testing numbers. Love, No. 25 in my new Big Board, is going to run well. I've moved Samuels from fullback/tight end to running back because that's where I think he'll end up.

Fullbacks

1. Dimitri Flowers, Oklahoma
2. Nick Bawden, San Diego State
3. Khalid Hill, Michigan
4. Austin Ramesh, Wisconsin
5. Daniel Marx, Stanford
6. Garrett Dickerson, Northwestern
7. J.D. Moore, LSU
8. *George Aston, Pitt
9. *Winston Dimel, Kansas State
10. *Alec Ingold, Wisconsin

Flowers has 11 career touchdowns on 47 catches. At 255 pounds, Hill is more of an old-school bruiser.

Wide receivers

1.*Calvin Ridley, Alabama
2. *Courtland Sutton, SMU
3. *D.J. Moore, Maryland
4. Anthony Miller, Memphis
5. *Deon Cain, Clemson
6. *Christian Kirk, Texas A&M
7. D.J. Chark, LSU
8. James Washington, Oklahoma State
9. Dante Pettis, Washington
10. Michael Gallup, Colorado State

Kirk has dropped a little bit, but he's not getting much help from erratic quarterback play. Washington is a big-play threat -- he has averaged 20.2 yards per catch with 32 touchdown catches in his career.

Tight ends

1. Dallas Goedert, South Dakota State
2. *Mark Andrews, Oklahoma
3. Ian Thomas, Indiana
4. Mike Gesicki, Penn State
5. Troy Fumagalli, Wisconsin
6. Tyler Conklin, Central Michigan
7. *Ryan Izzo, Florida State
8. *Hayden Hurst, South Carolina
9. Adam Breneman, UMass
10. *Dalton Schultz, Stanford

Thomas has a lot of physical tools but little experience; he has only 20 catches in two seasons. Conklin broke his foot during the summer and has played in only three games, but he already has four touchdowns.

Offensive tackles

1. Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame
2. *Orlando Brown, Oklahoma
3. *Connor Williams, Texas
4. Chukwuma Okorafor, Western Michigan
5. Desmond Harrison, West Georgia
6. Martinas Rankin, Mississippi State
7. *Will Richardson, NC State
8. Zachary Crabtree, Oklahoma State
9. Tyrell Crosby, Oregon
10. Brandon Parker, North Carolina A&T

McGlinchey is my new No. 1 tackle. He dominated USC. Harrison is a Texas transfer who also spent time at a junior college. Williams might miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered in Week 3.

Offensive guards

1. *Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame
2. Braden Smith, Auburn
3. Will Hernandez, UTEP
4. Cody O'Connell, Washington State
5. *Sam Jones, Arizona State
6. Brendan Mahon, Penn State
7. Austin Corbett, Nevada
8. KC McDermott, Miami (Fla.)
9. Wyatt Teller, Virginia Tech
10. Skyler Phillips, Idaho State

Nelson is another new addition to the Big Board. O'Connell is massive -- 6-foot-8, 354 pounds.

Centers

1. Frank Ragnow, Arkansas
2. Billy Price, Ohio State
3. *Will Clapp, LSU
4. *James Daniels, Iowa
5. *Alec Eberle, Florida State
6. Scott Quessenberry, UCLA
7. Coleman Shelton, Washington
8. Brian Allen, Michigan State
9. Jake Bennett, Colorado State
10. Bradley Bozeman, Alabama

Ragnow is now out for the season with an ankle injury.

Defensive ends

1. Bradley Chubb, NC State
2. **Clelin Ferrell, Clemson
3. *Ben Banogu, TCU
4. *Rasheem Green, USC
5. *Sam Hubbard, Ohio State
6. *Austin Bryant, Clemson
7. *Jalen Jelks, Oregon
8. Tyquan Lewis, Ohio State
9. Duke Ejiofor, Wake Forest
10. *Josh Sweat, Florida State

Ferrell had a 3.5-sack night in the loss at Syracuse. Ejiofor has 13.0 tackles for loss this season.

Defensive tackles

1.*Christian Wilkins, Clemson
2. Da'Ron Payne, Alabama
3. Maurice Hurst, Michigan
4. **Dre'Mont Jones, Ohio State
5. *Vita Vea, Washington
6. *Jerry Tillery, Notre Dame
7. *Harrison Phillips, Stanford
8. Derrick Nnadi, Florida State
9. *Taven Bryan, Florida
10. *Trenton Thompson, Georgia

Jones, a third-year sophomore, has really shown up on tape. Hurst has 8.0 tackles for loss this season.

Inside linebackers

1. Rashaan Evans, Alabama
2. *Roquan Smith, Georgia
3.Shaun Dion Hamilton, Alabama
4. Josey Jewell, Iowa
5. Micah Kiser, Virginia
6. *Cameron Smith, USC
7. Chris Worley, Ohio State
8. *Josh Watson, Colorado State
9. Nyles Morgan, Notre Dame
10. *T.J. Edwards, Wisconsin

Alabama has two really good inside linebackers in Evans and Hamilton. Morgan has 51 total tackles and 5.0 tackles for loss in 2017.

Outside linebackers

1. *Arden Key, LSU
2. Harold Landry, Boston College
3. *Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech
4. *Malik Jefferson, Texas
5. Lorenzo Carter, Georgia
6. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Oklahoma
7. *Jerome Baker, Ohio State
8. Uchenna Nwosu, USC
9. Matthew Thomas, Florida State
10. *Dorance Armstrong, Jr., Kansas

This pass-rushing class isn't as top-heavy as the 2017 group. Key leads the way, but he's still raw. Okoronkwo is a kid who goes 100 percent all the time.

Cornerbacks

1. *Isaiah Oliver, Colorado
2. *Tarvarus McFadden, Florida State
3. *Denzel Ward, Ohio State
4. *Carlton Davis, Auburn
5. *Jaire Alexander, Louisville
6. Anthony Averett, Alabama
7. M.J. Stewart, North Carolina
8. *Joshua Jackson, Iowa
9. Darius Phillips, Western Michigan
10. Jordan Thomas, Oklahoma

The cornerback class could be deep. Like running backs, pre-draft testing matters a lot here. Davis does it all for the Auburn defense.

Safeties

1. **Derwin James, Florida State
2. *Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama
3. *Ronnie Harrison, Alabama
4. Kyzir White, West Virginia
5. *Justin Reid, Stanford
6. *DeShon Elliott, Texas
7. Armani Watts, Texas A&M
8. *Terrell Edmunds, Virginia Tech
9. Quin Blanding, Virginia
10. Tre Flowers, Oklahoma State

Reid and Elliott are two of the four players in FBS with five interceptions this season.

Kickers and punters

1. Daniel Carlson, Auburn (K)
2. Johnny Townsend, Florida (P)
3. *Michael Dickson, Texas (P)
4. *Bryce Crawford, San Jose State (K)
5. *Jake Bailey, Stanford (P)
6. JK Scott, Alabama (P)
7. Trevor Daniel, Tennessee (P)
8. *Matt Gay, Utah (K)
9. Joe Davidson, Bowling Green (P)
10. *Corey Fatony, Missouri (P)

Carlson is a perfect 176-for-176 on extra points in his career.
