Jamshedpur 3 - 1 Mohammedan SC

(Mohammed Sanan 53', Javi Siverio 61, Stephen Eze 79' - Mohammed Irshad 88')

Jamshedpur FC climbed to seventh in the table after a comfortable 3-1 win over Mohammedan SC at home, with the visitors remaining 12th in the standings.

It was a quite opening to the first half, with Jamshedpur the only side with half chances. Javi Siverio, Javi Hernandez and Mohammed Sanan threatened the goal in the opening half-hour but nothing came of it. Mohammedan SC were happy with their sterile possession but were nearly made to pay on the stroke of half-time, when Stephen Eze volleyed over from a set-piece. However, a dull first-half came to an end with both sides goalless.

As if compensating for the first half, Jamshedpur FC took the lead in the 53rd minute via one of the goals of the season. Rei Tachikawa fed Sanan on the left wing from a counter-attack, and the 20-year-old cut inside, before curling a powerful strike into the top corner from the edge of the box to give the hosts the lead. Mohammedan were shocked into action after conceding and Makan Chhote came close to scoring on the hour mark.

It was Jamshedpur that did score from a corner in the 61st minute, after Siverio stabbed the ball home following Mohammedan keeper Bhaskar Roy spilling Hernandez's header into his path. Jamshedpur poured forwards and spurned plenty of chances to increase their lead as the half went on, but it was Eze who made it 3-0 in the 79th minute, poking the ball home from close range following a corner. The visitors did get a late consolation, with Mohammed Irshad glancing the ball in from Adinga Ralte's set-piece in the 88th minute, and there was late drama with Franca missing a penalty in injury time - but it was the hosts who claimed all three points.

Odisha FC 4 - 2 Bengaluru FC

(Jerry Mawihmingthanga 11' , Mourtada Fall 27', Diego Mauricio 45+3', 60' - Sunil Chhetri 53', Edgar Mendez 88')

Odisha FC climbed to third in the table with a stunning win over second-placed Bengaluru FC, with Diego Mauricio grabbing a brace in a 4-2 win.

Odisha got off to a great start in the first half, with Jerry Mawihmingthanga opening the scoring in the 11th minute. It was an all-Indian move, with Puitea crossing the ball to Isak Ralte at the far post, who held off Rahul Bheke and laid the ball off to Jerry running into the box, and he tapped it home.

Odisha doubled their lead in the 27th minute, with the second goal being an all-foreign move from a very familiar route. Ahmed Jahouh sent in a corner to the far post, and Mourtada Fall was on hand to power an unstoppable header into the net. Bengaluru FC struggled to threaten all half, with only 0.03xG from their two shots, and Odisha confirmed their superiority with a third goal in first-half injury time. Jerry Lalrinzuala sent in a long throw in on the left wing forward to Diego Mauricio, who powered past Bheke from the left wing, cutting into the box and curling a lovely finish past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.

Bengaluru FC came alive in the second half after four half-time substitutions. Two of those changes combined to get one back for the league leaders in the 53rd minute, Sunil Chhetri powering in a diving header at the far post, after Ryan Williams sent in a pin-point cross from the right wing. The visitors had all the momentum, but Mauricio restored Odisha's three-goal lead on the hour mark, collecting the ball in the centre-circle before bulldozing his way past multiple defenders into the box. Bheke's interception was deflected into the striker's path, and Mauricio obliged, hammering the ball into the net to make it 4-1 to the hosts.

Bengaluru FC tried their best but could not breach the Odisha defence until the 88th minute, with Edgar Mendez heading the ball in to reduce the arrears. It proved to be little more than a consolation as Odisha held on until full time to grab all three points.

Mohun Bagan 1 - 0 Chennaiyin FC

(Cummings 86')

A late, late Jason Cummings goal saw Mohun Bagan beat Chennaiyin FC by the lone goal to climb back to the top of the table (on GD against Bengaluru FC).

The visitors started the stronger and forced the play a bit, but then as the game wore on Mohun Bagan came into their own. By the end, they controlled the ball - and the stats reflected it: 17 shots to CFC's 8, 65% possession and 451 passes to 237. The goal came as a result of rather incessant pressure from Bagan, with Greg Stewart playing a neat pass in between the lines to Cummings in the box. The striker turned on a coin and smashed a sensational finish into the far top corner.

Chennaiyin remain 8th as a disappointing start continues with a fourth defeat in ten.

Mumbai City FC 1-0 Hyderabad FC

(Mehtab Singh 29')

Mumbai City FC have moved into the top six after 1-0 victory over Hyderabad FC in their Indian Super League match at Mumbai Football Arena.

The only goal of the match came from Mehtab Singh who scored a header from a corner in the 29th minute of the game. It was a deserving win for Mumbai who created multiple chances in both the halves but couldn't add more goals to the tally.

The win takes Mumbai to the sixth spot on the standings with 13 points from nine matches. This was their third win of the season, a much-needed one after a 0-3 loss against Punjab in their previous match.

Hyderabad, meanwhile, are 11th after seven points from nine matches.

East Bengal 1 - 0 NorthEast United

(Dimitrios Diamantakos)

East Bengal's star signings Madih Talal and Dimi Diamantakos finally combined to give East Bengal their first win of the season, a 1-0 win over high-flying NorthEast United. The goal came early in the first half, with Talal (playing almost as a second striker) picking out Diamantakos on the far post with a beautiful cross. EB were good value for their lead, battling through the pitch and first to many a second ball. PV Vishnu, starting on the wings in the place of the suspended Mahesh Singh and Nandhakumar Sekar was a real force in the attack. There were red cards for Ali Bemammer (72') and Lachungnunga (87'), both second yellows, both correct decisions -- but it didn't have much of an impact on the result.

Meanwhile, "we need to be [calmer]", said Juan Benali of NEUFC as the away side kept snatching at chances through the match, especially in the first half. They remain third in the league, and while EB remain bottom, this feels like one of those wins that could help turn the tide for later this season.

Kerala Blasters 0-1 FC Goa

(Boris Singh Thangjam 40')

FC Goa continued their formidable form as they defeated Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi in the Indian Super League 2024-25 season on Thursday.

A strike from Boris Singh gave them the lead in the 40th minute and it ended up being the only goal of the match.

FC Goa started the match strongly and their persistence eventually bore fruit when Sahil Tavora found Boris Singh on the right flank with acres of space. The winger tried his luck from a narrow angle and Blasters goalkeeper Sachin Suresh failed to parry the ball away and conceded the goal.

Goa maintained their control on the game after the half-time break and created a few decent chances as well. Blasters' head coach Mikael Stahre decided to shake things up with changes, bringing on the likes of Kwame Peprah, Korou Singh and Sandeep Singh but it didn't make much impact.

This was Goa's third win in a row as they occupy fifth place in the standings with 15 points while Blasters are ninth with 11 points.
