With Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow both not playing this week because of their respective byes, we definitely need to look at streaming options at the QB position. Well, Daniel Jones is certainly one of those options, despite his lower fantasy floor, and there's another veteran passer in here with a positive Week 10 matchup. Plus, we'll hit on the available running backs, wide receivers and a couple of tight ends who will move up in my weekly rankings.
I've identified some key players -- all rostered in less than 50% of ESPN leagues -- who can be picked up for this week's slate of NFL games. While you might notice some overlap with Eric Moody's pickup column that publishes on Mondays, an important distinction is that the options mentioned in this column are focused solely on this week's matchup and not the players' values for the remainder of the season.
So, let's get into it, starting with a guy who tries to bring some life into MetLife Stadium on a routine basis.
Quarterbacks
Daniel Jones, New York Giants (54.9% rostered; at Texans): The fantasy floor on Jones remains pretty low because of the lack of throwing volume in the Giants' offense. With at least six carries in every game this season, however, you are playing the upside of Jones as a runner on designed rushes (and second-reaction plays) for the Week 10 game versus the Texans. In the two games this year when Jones posted 20-plus fantasy points, he has accounted for at least one rushing score. Yes, there will be opportunities for Brian Daboll to scheme Jones as a passer in this one. He's going to see 2-deep coverage from Lovie Smith's defense. Throw the leveled Cover 2 beaters there. That said, it's still about Jones turning those rushing opportunities into "chunk gains" and red zone production. You'll need it if you put Jones in your lineup.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (35.0% rostered; at Bears): I don't love the Lions' passing offense right now, but in deeper leagues, Goff has potential as a streaming option against a Bears defense that was stripped of difference-making talent at the trade deadline. Plus, we know what Goff will see versus Matt Eberflus' unit. There are staple coverages here, two- and three-deep zone, man, and a slight boost in the blitz rate on third downs. Now, Goff has thrown a total of only three touchdowns in his past four starts, with just one game of 15-plus fantasy points in that stretch. That's not great, but if you roster a bye-week quarterback and Goff is available, this is still a pretty good matchup for him against the Chicago defense.
Other potential options: Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers (35.4% rostered; at Chargers), Andy Dalton, New Orleans Saints (16.1% rostered; at Steelers);
Running backs
Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami Dolphins (75.7% rostered; at Browns): As expected -- especially after we saw how he was deployed in his first game with the Dolphins -- Wilson was scooped up by many off of waivers earlier this week, but he's still out there in a quarter of ESPN leagues. Wilson logged 16.2 PPR points in Miami's Week 9 win over Chicago, with 72 totals yards and a score on 12 touches. There's passing game upside for Wilson in Mike McDaniel's offense, too. Go back to Wilson's touchdown versus the Bears -- a low red zone play, backfield release, go get the matchup on the linebacker. If Wilson can continue to see 10-12 touches a game, he gives you flex value in PPR formats for the Week 10 matchup against the Browns defense.
Other potential options: Latavius Murray, Denver Broncos (25.1% rostered; at Titans), Jerick McKinnon, Kansas City Chiefs (18.1% rostered; vs. Jaguars), Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs (23.3% rostered; vs. Jaguars), Rachaad White (23.6% rostered; vs. Seahawks), Kenneth Gainwell, Philadelphia Eagles (9.3% rostered; vs. Commanders), Chase Edmonds, Denver Broncos (45.4% rostered; at Titans)
Wide receivers
Editor's note: Mecole Hardman of the Kansas City Chiefs was originally suggested in this column, but has been removed because he was ruled out for Sunday's game on Friday afternoon.
Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland Browns (17.8% rostered; at Dolphins): I wrote about him a couple of weeks back, and I'm going to stay with the Browns wide receiver given his physical tools and big-play potential. Peoples-Jones has produced double-digit PPR points in each of his last three games, catching 14-of-15 targets (with an average of 16.14 yards per reception) during that stretch. A good five of those grabs went for explosive plays (a reception of 20-plus yards). There's more value here in non-PPR formats for Peoples-Jones against the Dolphins' single-high safety coverages in Week 10.
Other potential options: Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants (18.5% rostered; at Texans), Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (33.2% rostered; at Chiefs), DeAndre Carter, Los Angeles Chargers (8.9% rostered; at 49ers)
Tight ends
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears (37.2% rostered; vs. Lions): Chicago's run-heavy offense, which limits the total throwing volume for QB Justin Fields, has really impacted the fantasy profile of Kmet this season. But let's look at the tight end's usage in the red zone over the last two weeks. During that stretch, Kmet has run nine red zone routes, with four receptions and three TD catches. Chicago is scheming for Kmet here, isolating him for Fields on play-action concepts -- boot, delayed releases, quicks underneath. Kmet, who logged two touchdowns and posted a season-high 22.0 PPR points in Week 9 versus Miami, gets the Lions defense on Sunday.
Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos (47.2% rostered; at Titans): I really thought the roster percentage for Dulcich would climb more than this after the rookie posted his third straight double-digit PPR game back in Week 9 versus the Jaguars. We know he can work the seams for Russell Wilson, and there are schemed throws to open up coverage voids for Dulcich on the tape, too. With a total of 14 targets over his last two games (10 receptions), Dulcich will be a top-12 tight end for me this week in the matchup versus the Titans.
Other potential options: Noah Fant, Seattle Seahawks (34.7% rostered; at Buccaneers), Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11.2% rostered; vs. Seahawks)
Defense/special teams
New York Giants (55.2% rostered; vs. Texans): I don't like the matchup of the Giants' rush defense versus Dameon Pierce and the Texans this week. New York is allowing 5.46 yards per rush this season. That's rough. Still, I would roll with Wink Martindale's unit versus Davis Mills and the Houston passing game. The Giants lead the NFL in blitz rate this season (40.3%) and they've recorded at least two sacks in four of their last five games. Heat up the quarterback and turn the ball over.
Other potential options: Denver Broncos (47.0% rostered; at Titans), Seattle Seahawks (23.4% rostered; at Buccaneers)
