Fantasy football flex and superflex rankings for Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the NFL season and our weekly PPR fantasy football superflex rankings for 2022. We know many of you now compete in superflex formats that invite/covet second quarterbacks in starting lineups, so these rankings account for that. It might look odd to see the lowest-ranked fantasy passers ranked ahead of typical RB2 and WR2 options, but the potential scoring impact demands it. If your league is of the standard flex variety, just ignore the presence of quarterbacks. Regardless, good luck in Week 5 and beyond!

These rankings have been updated for news and to remove players from Thursday's Colts-Broncos game. Most recent update: Friday 8:00 p.m. ET.

1. Josh Allen, Bills (QB1): Fantasy points have fallen each week, but they remain elite. Nothing to worry about here.

2. Lamar Jackson, Ravens (QB2): Turnovers lowered his point total versus Bills, but he still threw, still ran. No worries.

3. Jalen Hurts, Eagles (QB3): Eagles are balanced, and only concern with Hurts may be how many hits he's taking.

4. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (QB4): Terrific game at Tampa Bay, as Mahomes finds new ways to complete passes.

5. Justin Herbert, Chargers (QB5): We can probably stop worrying about his injured ribs.

6. Cooper Kupp, Rams (WR1): Fantasy's top PPR scorer among flex options so far, and it's not that close.

7. Davante Adams, Raiders (WR2): Unstoppable force should see plenty of targets Monday night in Kansas City.

8. Stefon Diggs, Bills (WR3): Quiet outing at Baltimore, but should bounce back versus Steelers.

9. Justin Jefferson, Vikings (WR4): Looked dominant against New Orleans, in case anyone thought he would struggle.

10. Tom Brady, Buccaneers (QB6): Bucs probably don't want him throwing 52 times each weekend.

11. Joe Burrow, Bengals (QB7)
12. Kyler Murray, Cardinals (QB8)

13. Saquon Barkley, Giants (RB1): Passing game is a mess, but 31 rushing attempts does seem like too much volume, if such a thing exists.

14. Tyreek Hill, Dolphins (WR5): Quarterback shouldn't matter much to his production.

15. Ja'Marr Chase, Bengals (WR6)
16. Deebo Samuel, 49ers (WR7)

17. Travis Kelce, Chiefs (TE1): Touchdowns in three of four games. Career high is 11.

18. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (QB9)

19. Derek Carr, Raiders (QB10): Brady threw 52 times versus Chiefs, so Carr figures to be busy as well.

20. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (RB2): Big receiving numbers finally, but ultimately the news here is that he keeps suiting up.

21. Nick Chubb, Browns (RB3)

22. Austin Ekeler, Chargers (RB4): We appreciate the three touchdowns, but game-to-game consistency works, too.

23. Derrick Henry, Titans (RB5): Zero catches the first two games and eight since then. Well on his way to career-high receptions total.

24. Mark Andrews, Ravens (TE2)
25. Kirk Cousins, Vikings (QB11)

26. Jared Goff, Lions (QB12): Hey, if every game is going to be a fun shootout, then we gotta invest in the QB.

27. Matthew Stafford, Rams (QB13): Only one good fantasy game out of four, and Dallas defends. May be time to move Stafford down in ranks.

28. Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars (QB14): Was a turnover machine in the Philly rain, but we know he can do better.

29. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Lions (WR8): Ankle injury cost him Week 4, and he's not guaranteed to play this week.

30. A.J. Brown, Eagles (WR9)

31. CeeDee Lamb, Cowboys (WR10): Numbers have been solid with the backup QB. Don't assume he's a WR1 when the starter returns.

32. Tee Higgins, Bengals (WR11)

33. Leonard Fournette, Buccaneers (RB6): Bucs shouldn't be trailing by so much this week, so Fournette will get touches.

34. Dalvin Cook, Vikings (RB7): Overcame shoulder injury that many thought would cost him games, and performed well.

35. Jamaal Williams, Lions (RB8): No D'Andre Swift again this week, and this offense does move the football.

36. Alvin Kamara, Saints (RB9): If form holds, he plays in the odd-numbered weeks, sits the even weeks. Annoying.

37. Joe Mixon, Bengals (RB10)

38. Teddy Bridgewater, Dolphins (QB15): Capable fill-in for Tua Tagovailoa, who may need more than a week off.

39. Geno Smith, Seahawks (QB16): So far he's one of the biggest surprises among quarterbacks, and should keep playing well.

40. Zach Wilson, Jets (QB17): Uneven performance in season debut, but led Jets to win. Clearly something to watch here.

41. Mike Evans, Buccaneers (WR12)

42. Christian Kirk, Jaguars (WR13): Rough one versus Eagles, but no big-picture concerns.

43. Marquise Brown, Cardinals (WR14): Just a reminder, before you trade for Brown, that DeAndre Hopkins returns in Week 7.

44. Ryan Tannehill, Titans (QB18)

45. Carson Wentz, Commanders (QB19): You simply can't still be excited about this enigma. Calls for Taylor Heinicke getting stronger.

46. Andy Dalton, Saints (QB20): Replacing an injured Jameis Winston yet again.

47. Jacoby Brissett, Browns (QB21)

48. Daniel Jones, Giants (QB22): Compromised by ankle injury, but someone has to hand the ball to Saquon.

49. Marcus Mariota, Falcons (QB23)
50. Aaron Jones, Packers (RB11)

51. Miles Sanders, Eagles (RB12): Certainly looks motivated in his contract season, and with this offensive line, just needs to stay healthy.

52. Josh Jacobs, Raiders (RB13): Great Week 4, but gets Chiefs this week, and they shut down Tampa running game.

53. Dameon Pierce, Texans (RB14): Yeah, we like 75-yard touchdown runs. We like them a lot.

54. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Chiefs (RB15)

55. DK Metcalf, Seahawks (WR15): Easy to say now, but he's tough to contain regardless of quarterback. And Geno is playing well.

56. Chris Godwin, Buccaneers (WR16): Will see ample volume, but still some concerns about health.

57. Jaylen Waddle, Dolphins (WR17)

58. Chris Olave, Saints (WR18): It's not odd at all to rank him as the top Saints wide receiver. He's awesome.

59. Mike Williams, Chargers (WR19)

60. Cooper Rush, Cowboys (QB24): This may be his final start before Dak Prescott returns, but he has altered his future with his play.

61. Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers (QB25)

62. T.J. Hockenson, Lions (TE3): As with Ekeler to some degree, we love the monster game, but more consistency is better.

63. Darren Waller, Raiders (TE4)

64. Najee Harris, Steelers (RB16): The real problem here is he isn't getting the targets. That's the difference from last season.

65. Breece Hall, Jets (RB17): Think I had a class at Breece Hall as a sophomore. OK, really, this guy is good, an RB2 for sure.

66. James Robinson, Jaguars (RB18)

67. J.K. Dobbins, Ravens (RB19): Proved that he could steal red zone work from his MVP candidate QB after all.

68. Tyler Lockett, Seahawks (WR20)
69. Drake London, Falcons (WR21)

70. Brandin Cooks, Texans (WR22): Still has seven or more targets in each game, and finally scored his first touchdown. Still a WR3.

71. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chiefs (WR23)

72. Justin Fields, Bears (QB26): He cannot be successful the way this offense is built, with the plays they call.

73. Davis Mills, Texans (QB27): Not playing so well, but backup Kyle Allen isn't the future, either.

74. Kenny Pickett, Steelers (QB28): Steelers have nothing to lose, but relying on rookie QBs in fantasy is dangerous.

75. Baker Mayfield, Panthers (QB29): Things aren't going so well. P.J. Walker is the backup.

76. Bailey Zappe, Patriots (QB30): Looks like he gets his first start, unless Mac Jones make a quick recovery.

77. James Conner, Cardinals (RB20)

78. David Montgomery, Bears (RB21): Missed Week 4 and even if he plays, may be a timeshare here.

79. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (RB22)
80. Devin Singletary, Bills (RB23)

81. Jeff Wilson Jr., 49ers (RB24): Three consecutive games of 74 or more rushing yards. Just needs to stay healthy.

82. Rhamondre Stevenson, Patriots (RB25): Perhaps both Patriots backs can thrive, but Stevenson looks like the better player.

83. Damien Harris, Patriots (RB26)
84. AJ Dillon, Packers (RB27)

85. George Kittle, 49ers (TE5): He played more of a blocking role on Monday, which is not what fantasy managers like.

86. Zach Ertz, Cardinals (TE6): Revenge game with Eagles this Sunday, but his production is not in doubt.

87. Garrett Wilson, Jets (WR24)

88. Curtis Samuel, Commanders (WR25): While you weren't paying attention, he easily leads team WRs in catches, targets.

89. Diontae Johnson, Steelers (WR26): Pickett starting should aid Johnson's fantasy numbers a bit.

90. DeVonta Smith, Eagles (WR27)

91. Amari Cooper, Browns (WR28): Two big games, two games of nothing. This may be the theme all season.

92. Adam Thielen, Vikings (WR29)
93. Terry McLaurin, Commanders (WR30)
94. Pat Freiermuth, Steelers (TE7)
95. Dallas Goedert, Eagles (TE8)
96. David Njoku, Browns (TE9)
97. Tyler Higbee, Rams (TE10)

98. Raheem Mostert, Dolphins (RB28): Little consistency in his volume so far, making it tough to trust him in fantasy.

99. Kareem Hunt, Browns (RB29): Very consistent volume each week, but no touchdowns since Week 1.

100. Michael Carter, Jets (RB30): Looks like a backup now and backups generally don't help us much.

101. Tony Pollard, Cowboys (RB31)
102. Robert Woods, Titans (WR31)

103. DJ Moore, Panthers (WR32): Can't overcome his QB, and faces the 49ers this week. Don't expect much.

104. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chiefs (WR33)

105. Jakobi Meyers, Patriots (WR34): Has missed two games with knee injury, but if he plays this week versus Lions, that's intriguing.

106. Hunter Renfrow, Raiders (WR35): Has missed two games with concussion, and his game this week is Monday. Risky.

107. Travis Etienne Jr., Jaguars (RB32)

108. Tyler Allgeier, Falcons (RB33): Most presume he is the Cordarrelle Patterson replacement, but he has to prove it.

109. Cam Akers, Rams (RB34): Very underwhelming on Monday night, and have to wonder if any Rams RB will be more than a flex option for a while.

110. Khalil Herbert, Bears (RB35)

111. Rashaad Penny, Seahawks (RB36): Ran wild against the Lions, but gets the Saints this week. Probably won't run wild.

112. Elijah Moore, Jets (WR36)

113. Romeo Doubs, Packers (WR37): Eight targets and a score in consecutive games. He's not Davante Adams, but he's emerging.

114. Allen Lazard, Packers (WR38)

115. Isaiah McKenzie, Bills (WR39): Interesting situation developing for No. 2 Bills WR. For now, looks like McKenzie is more valuable.

116. Gabe Davis, Bills (WR40)
117. Brandon Aiyuk, 49ers (WR41)

118. Zay Jones, Jaguars (WR42): Expect the Jaguars passing game to get back on track this week.

119. George Pickens, Steelers (WR43): Rookie has all the tools to succeed, and Steelers really need to give him more targets.

120. Tyler Boyd, Bengals (WR44): The rare No. 3 WR on a team we pay attention to. Ravens have been thrown on.

121. Gerald Everett, Chargers (TE11)
122. Tyler Conklin, Jets (TE12)

123. Dalton Schultz, Cowboys (TE13): Quiet since Week 1, but sore knee playing a role. Still worth relying on.

124. J.D. McKissic, Commanders (RB37)

125. Rex Burkhead, Texans (RB38): No longer a factor in the running game, but he is getting key receptions.

126. Chase Edmonds, Dolphins (RB39)
127. Darrell Henderson Jr., Rams (RB40)

128. Caleb Huntley, Falcons (RB41): Second-year guy from Ball State sure looked good in Week 4. Should see touches.

129. Corey Davis, Jets (WR45)

130. Mack Hollins, Raiders (WR46): Renfrow insurance, but it's pretty good insurance for this matchup with the Chiefs.

131. Rondale Moore, Cardinals (WR47): Didn't do much in season debut, but figures to be used creatively against Eagles.

132. Michael Gallup, Cowboys (WR48): Two catches and a score in his debut, and there's much more to come.

133. Allen Robinson II, Rams (WR49): Sigh. Kupp just doesn't share so much, and why would he?

134. Marvin Jones Jr., Jaguars (WR50)
135. Josh Reynolds, Lions (WR51)
136. Devin Duvernay, Ravens (WR52)

137. Darnell Mooney, Bears (WR53): One glorious Week 4 reception is accounting for nearly half his season receiving yardage total. Sigh.

138. Julio Jones, Buccaneers (WR54): Far too risky to rely on someone who simply cannot stay healthy.

139. Rachaad White, Buccaneers (RB42)
140. Mark Ingram II, Saints (RB43)
141. Eno Benjamin, Cardinals (RB44)
142. Kenneth Walker III, Seahawks (RB45)
143. Hayden Hurst, Bengals (TE14)
144. Robert Tonyan, Packers (TE15)
145. Logan Thomas, Commanders (TE16)
146. Joshua Palmer, Chargers (WR55)
147. Robbie Anderson, Panthers (WR56)
148. Nico Collins, Texans (WR57)
149. Nelson Agholor, Patriots (WR58)
150. Chase Claypool, Steelers (WR59)
