What you need to know for Tuesday's games
Tuesday's NBA slate offers five games as we continue the second week of the regular season, and the one I'm most excited about is the Charlotte Hornets-Miami Heat matchup. It's shaping up to be a fast-paced, physical battle between two teams that thrive in transition.
Charlotte's explosive offense under Charles Lee will be tested against Miami's gritty, downhill style and deep bench scoring. It's a perfect early-season clash of speed, toughness, and discipline, and a great measuring stick for how far the young Hornets have come.
Let's break down the action and find some fantasy streamers and betting angles to make the most of tonight's slate.
Tuesday's fantasy stream team
Kelly Oubre Jr., SF/SG, Philadelphia 76ers (rostered in 51.8% of ESPN leagues)
Oubre has scored 36 or more fantasy points in two of his first three games this season. While Joel Embiid is expected to play Tuesday night, the injuries to Paul George, Dominick Barlow, and Trendon Watford bode well for Oubre's streaming appeal in a favorable matchup against the Wizards.
Jaime Jaquez Jr., SF/SG, Miami Heat (33.7% rostered)
Jaquez has impressed off the bench, with averages of 15.7 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 4.0 APG and 1.3 SPG. It's a strong bounce-back after a disappointing 2024-25 season, and his value should hold against the Hornets with Tyler Herro sidelined for several more weeks. He won't sustain 71% shooting, but Jaquez contributes across categories and provides steady production in points, rebounds and assists, with some defensive upside.
Kon Knueppel, SG, Charlotte Hornets (23.0% rostered)
Knueppel posted a season-high 36 fantasy points in 34 minutes against the Wizards on Sunday. With Brandon Miller expected to miss a few games due to injury and Tre Mann listed as questionable, Knueppel has a clear path to increased minutes. He's in a favorable spot against the Heat, especially if he plays more minutes at small forward, since Miami ranks top 10 in fantasy points allowed to that position.
Ryan Rollins, SG, Milwaukee Bucks (12.8% rostered)
Rollins should continue to see significant minutes against the Knicks with Kevin Porter Jr. dealing with an ankle injury. He's scored 30 or more fantasy points in each of his two starts, contributing across the board in points, assists, rebounds and steals.
Moody's favorite bets for Tuesday
Jalen Brunson over 37.5 points, rebounds and assists (-115)
Brunson is off to a great start this season, surpassing this line in two of his first three games. He's averaged 34.8 MPG, 21.3 FGA, 12.5 potential assists and 7.5 rebound chances per game, showing that the usage is there. Brunson's in a good spot against a Bucks team that ranks ninth in pace so far and continues to struggle defending point guards. The last time Brunson faced Milwaukee, he posted 44 points, five rebounds and six assists.
Zach LaVine over 21.5 points (-110)
The Thunder's defensive reputation is well-earned, and Oklahoma City is off to a strong start this season. Still, this isn't a bad spot for LaVine. He's cleared this line in all three games so far and in 56% of his games last year, and the Thunder are middle of the pack defensively against shooting guards. LaVine has averaged 22.0 field-goal attempts while shooting an impressive 53% from the floor and 35% from beyond the arc. If the game stays close, LaVine should have every opportunity to hit this number.
LaMelo Ball over 14.5 rebounds and assists (-130)
Ball has cleared this line in two of his first three games this season. He's averaged 33.9 MPG and, more importantly, 11.0 rebound chances and 14.0 potential assists per game. While the Heat rank fourth in defensive rating so far, they've struggled to limit point guards in those categories. This is a solid spot for Ball in what projects to be a competitive game given the spread. He's averaged 13.4 rebounds and assists per game over his career.
Joel Embiid under 28.5 points, rebounds and assists (-120)
Embiid has gone under this line in both games this season, and averaged just 20.2 MPG and 10.0 FGA while shooting 40% from the floor. The 76ers are monitoring his workload closely given his extensive injury history, and with the Wizards ranking near the bottom of the league in points, rebounds and assists allowed, this game carries serious blowout potential. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond could see extended minutes in this one.
