From top MVP candidates like Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to rising young stars like Victor Wembanyama and Cade Cunningham, there are plenty of talented players to get excited about in fantasy basketball for next season.
But where do aging superstars like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and James Harden fall in the rankings? And how do the injuries to Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum change things? And where will prized incoming rookie Cooper Flagg, the projected No. 1 pick in this summer's NBA draft, be ranked?
Here are our way-too-early rankings for H2H Points leagues for the 2025-26 fantasy basketball season, with a special update from on Flagg.
Where should Flagg rank?
Flagg is coming off a freshman season at Duke where he led the team in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game while leading his squad to the Final Four. He's still only 18 years old and would have been a high school senior last year if he hadn't reclassified.
So, what should we expect him to produce in his first year in the NBA?
A lot. Flagg has the size and skillset to be a do-everything forward right out the gate. If, as the Dallas Mavericks have already indicated, he becomes a Maverick moving forward then he'll be joining a team with excellent big men but a lack of perimeter scoring and playmaking... particularly while Kyrie Irving is out (ACL). Flagg is in an ideal situation to step into that void and generate scoring and even distribution from the wing. Opponents will likely gameplan to stop Anthony Davis first, which should let Flagg operate against defenses not focused purely on him.
Late last season, after the Irving and Davis injuries, Mavericks wing Naji Marshall stepped up and averaged 20 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds in the month of March to establish himself as a top-50 fantasy hoops producer down the stretch. Flagg will be stepping into that role and has very similar statistical upside. I currently have him ranked 37th in my early rankings, and if I were drafting a fantasy hoops league today I would look to draft him before the end of the fourth round.
