Samsung can't close out over KT Rolster in the LCK

In a showdown between league leaders, KT Rolster took down Samsung Galaxy in a 2-1 reverse sweep on Tuesday in Seoul, South Korea to open up Week 8, Day 1 of League of Legends Champions Korea.

Samsung went into the first game of the series with high damage champions that overcame KT with relative ease, picking up two kills in the first few minutes of the game. KT saw a window to get back into the game by taking a 3-for-1 after Samsung secured a 21-minute Baron when jungler Kang "Haru" Min-seung's Rengar had trouble tanking the objective by himself. After the kill, though, Samsung didn't just lie down, picking up a couple more kills to salvage the buff. With both teams becoming incredibly tanky with the new patch, there only proved to be two more kills in the final 10 minutes of the game. That didn't stop Samsung from picking up advantages across the map, including an uncontested second Baron, to eventually push for the 33-minute win.

Samsung tried to counter the engage-heavy team composition of KT in the second game with a Taric pick for support Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in, but it didn't stop KT from doing whatever it wanted. Having a Taric doesn't mean much of anything when there's an incredibly fed Kalista on the other side, and KT AD carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu, who picked up kill after kill throughout the game, giving Samsung no hope whatsoever of coming back. By the time 19 minutes had passed, Deft had five kills, which allowed KT to easily push for advantages all across the map, giving up only a single Mountain Drake. KT picked up Baron at 23 minutes and wasted no time at all marching right into the Samsung base to finish up the 25-minute, nearly perfect game on the back of Deft, who ended with an 8/0/3 KDA (kills/deaths/assists).

Again going with tons of engage in the final game of this series, KT dominated this game from start to finish. While Samsung managed to find two kills under 10 minutes into the game, all it took was a couple kills for KT to get into a rhythm. KT punished Haru's Elise for missed Cocoons and poor decision making to start pulling ahead. While KT was up 8-3 in kills at 22 minutes, Samsung managed to hang around with a near even gold score between the two teams, but an ill-advised Baron attempt from Samsung resulted in a 4-for-0 in favor of KT to go along with the Baron. Just as in Game 2, KT took that buff and went straight to the Samsung base to pick up a final ace to secure the 28-minute win.
