Team ROCCAT was dismantled by H2k-Gaming in a 2-0 sweep on Thursday during Week 6, Day 1 of the European League of Legends Championship Series in Berlin, Germany.
It requires confidence to take on H2K (6-2, 13-4 match record), but it looks more like recklessness when you give up Zac to jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski. The first blood king led H2K by living up to his name at five minutes by earning the first kill of the game, threatening to set up a massive snowball early on. Making matters worse for ROCCAT (2-5, 7-11 match record), mid laner Felix "Betsy" Edling's Corki managed to miss a blast cone while being pursued by H2K and was killed. As soon as it happened, Betsy's hands were off the keyboard in frustration and ROCCAT's emotional state crumbled. From this point on, ROCCAT looked lost against H2K's methodical, intense macro play. There was simply nothing at all ROCCAT could do to stop the destruction and its Nexus fell in just 26 minutes.
ROCCAT changed up its style going into Game 2, mixing early-game impact from Renekton and Elise with late-game scaling of Orianna and Tristana, while H2K fielded a double marksman composition with Corki and Kalista. However, it was once again Jankos -- this time on Lee Sin -- who picked up first blood at four minutes, to almost nobody's surprise. ROCCAT managed to trade kills well in the early game, including with a 3-for-3 exchange at eight minutes. Unfortunately, ROCCAT's solo laners seemed to think they were in solo queue, staying in their respective lanes while H2K put on a clinic in how to rotate as a team. H2K's methodical playstyle garnered it a gold lead of 5,200 gold by 17 minutes, leading to a 2-for-0 teamfight win and a mid lane inhibitor just under 19 minutes in. A minute later, top laner Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu's Shen picked up a triple kill in a 5-for-0 ace, and H2K finished the fastest win of the summer split and in all of 2017 in little over 21 minutes.
Team ROCCAT will have a chance to pick up some much-needed wins against Mysterious Monkeys on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET, while H2K prepares for a clash against G2 Esports next Thursday at 2 p.m. ET.
