Spoiler alert for "Telecom Wars: Revenge of the Blank": SK Telecom took down legendary rivals KT Rolster in a thrilling 2-1 series on Tuesday in Seoul, South Korea to close out Week 4, Day 1 of the League of Legends Champions Korea.
While SKT used its World Champion starting roster featuring top laner Heo "Huni" Seung-hoon's Kennen, KT Rolster looked dominant in Game 1 with a strong pick composition. Giving Renekton to top laner Song "Smeb" Kyung-ho, KT exploded across the map, rotating around to give Smeb first blood and accrue a strong midgame lead. Bursting ahead through leads in kills and objectives, a 3-for-0 at 20 minutes gave KT time for a Baron kill, bringing the gold lead to 10,200 gold by the 24-minute mark. Smeb's monstrous performance gave KT Rolster a Game 1 win in 25 minutes, beginning a pattern of dominant early games for KT Rolster.
KT Rolster had yet another strong early game from Smeb's Renekton in the second game, securing first blood in a four-minute, four-man towerdive for a 2-for-0 lead. SK Telecom recovered in the mid game thanks to substitute jungler Kang "Blank" Sun-gu's Elise but KT's strong siege potential was too great, forcing and winning a 2-for-1 fight at 21 minutes. At the 24-minute mark, SKT secured a Baron kill but got wiped immediately afterwards, giving KT a 5-for-0 ace alongside three tower kills. 36 minutes in, KT had picked up an Elder Dragon, a second Baron kill, and started a seemingly unstoppable siege, but a 2-for-0 at 41 minutes allowed SKT to stall the game. In the end, KT Rolster ran out of steam as SKT found a miraculous 5-for-0 ace on the back of a Command: Shockwave from mid lane ace Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok's Orianna, completing the huge comeback win in 44 minutes.
Game 3 began as the previous two had with KT taking a 2-for-0 fight in the bottom lane around five minutes. Picking up more kills, KT's pick/siege composition went ahead by as much as 3,000 gold at 13 minutes from early team-wide pressure. A 23-minute Baron kill for KT seemed to lock things up, but SKT found a series of picks close to the 30-minute mark to claw back into the game. SKT's siege/splitpush team comp worked perfectly as top laner Park "Untara" Ui-jin's Fiora splitpushed while the rest of SKT poked and disengaged fluidly, giving SKT a bottom lane inhibitor and a Baron at 34 minutes to take a gold lead. A 38-minute Elder Dragon and 41-minute Baron kill later and SKT had finalized the 44-minute comeback yet again, taking the 2-1 series win in the latest installment of the Telecom Wars.
