League of Legends global power rankings through June 22

Welcome back to our League of Legends global power rankings. Every week, we look at each team in the five major regions and rank them according to how they are currently performing.

We're starting with Week 2 of the LMS, Week 3 of the NA/EU LCS and Week 4 of the LPL and LCK. The +/- indicates the change since the previous ranking.

World contenders

1. SK Telecom T1

Record: 5-2 (11-4) | League: LCK | +/-: no change

What should we take away from SKT T1's regression this week against Jin Air and Afreeca? The seemingly unstoppable force was derailed this week with a close 1-2 loss to the Green Wings before getting blown out by newfound rivals the Afreeca Freecs. Mickey controlled Faker in and out of lane, and the triple crown winners (Worlds, Intel Extreme Masters, Mid-Season Invitational) dropped two series in a row after starting the season perfect through five matches. While we'd be crazy to write off the best team in the world after only two series, it might be telling that the Freecs loss was possibly the biggest blowout in Faker's career.

2. Jin Air Green Wings

Record: 5-2 (10-6) | League: LCK | +/-: +1

The "Robin Hood of Korea" showed up once again this week. The late-game grinder itself, Jin Air was able to knock off SKT T1 to hand the three-peating champion its first loss of the season. Looking like arguably the best team in Korea, and thus the world, the Green Wings messed up everything only a couple of days later by losing to rookies MVP. It's hard to argue Jin Air aren't a top five team currently in the world, but can anyone ever trust it not to mess up along the way? It feels like we're only a few weeks away from the traditional collapse of the Green Wings following a strong start to the split.

3. EDward Gaming

Record: 6-0 (12-3) | League: LPL | +/-: +3

The first week of Chinese cross-group play put EDward Gaming against its long time rival, Royal Never Give Up. And to the surprise of many, EDward Gaming took the win over Royal 2-1. This victory makes it seem like EDward is the best team in China, which many expected Royal to hold that title. Additionally, group A -- the one EDward Gaming participates in -- looked stronger than group B.

4. Team SoloMid

Record: 6-0 (12-2) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +4

How far can this squad go this split? The best-of-three format is sharpening the team's resolve, and Bjergsen might be having the best start to any season he's ever played in. As long as Hauntzer continues his ascent up the western top lane hierarchy and Biofirst doesn't experience his first nerves come playoff time, the current TSM could go down as one of the best League teams to ever come out of the western region.

5. KT Rolster

Record: 5-2 (11-5) | League: LCK | +/-: +7

Another summer season, and another strong performance by KT Rolster. KT has gotten to the finals of the last three summer OGN finals, and 2016 might not be any different if the team keeps up its strong work. Fly's Viktor has been outstanding, and Hachani, the apparent weak link, has stepped up his game mightily since the first few weeks of the spring split. All in all, as long as the other teams are performing above expectation and Arrow is solid as ever in the bot-lane, the duo of Ssumday and Score are a troublesome one-two punch for any team on the planet.

6. Royal Never Give Up

Record: 6-1 (13-3) | League: LPL | +/-: -4

Royal took a loss at the hands of EDward Gaming, which brings to question: is Royal the best team in China? As a hot take, the answer is no. Its 1-2 defeat to its Chinese peer makes EDward Gaming look like the better team currently. Whether that is a result of Uzi in the bottom lane -- Royal's only off-season roster change -- is uncertain. But Royal also beat Invictus Gaming, so it's still a top team in China.

7. ROX Tigers

Record: 5-2 (10-7) | League: LCK | +/-: -2

Over the past two years, Smeb has been the best player in the LCK alongside Faker. If we were to solely look at regular season performance, the reigning MVP from ROX would be called the best player in the world today. Issue is, playoffs are always remembered over regular season accolades, and Faker along with SKT T1 have continually beaten Smeb and the Tigers soundly in major finals. ROX, per usual, are one of the best teams in the league, and we'll just need to wait until the postseason to see if this iteration is any different from the last come best-of-five time.

8. Flash Wolves

Record: 3-0-0 | League: LMS | +/-: +1

Flash Wolves have seen a slight drop in its play since the end of the last LMS split, but it currently proves to be plenty dominant. Facing off against former sister team, Team Mist, the team clearly didn't take things too seriously and didn't really choke out its former brethren until the later stages of the game. Additionally, the Wolves solidified its spot at top this last week, handily defeating ahq e-Sports Club for the fifth game in a row.

9. G2 Esports

Record: 4-2-0 | League: EU LCS | +/-: -2

G2 Esports showed it's more vulnerable than we originally thought after tieing with H2k Gaming this last weekend. The team is still the best in Europe, but a full-fledged playoff series could see the likes of Fnatic and H2k give it a run for its money. Additionally, new top laner Expect had a decent game on Irelia and shined on Fizz in its one-game win over H2k.

10. Immortals

Record: 5-1 (10-5) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +1

It says a lot about how good TSM has looked this season that barely anyone is talking about Immortals. The 17-1 regular season champions of last season might have misread the meta and bombed out of the semifinals in the spring, but the sophomore titans look possibly even better this go around. Huni will thrive in the current top lane carry meta, and even with questionable drafts from time to time, this team's offensive firepower and mechanical talent is good enough to overcome it.

Playoff contenders

11. Fnatic

Record: 4-1-1 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +5

With wins over Splyce and FC Schalke 04, Fnatic continues to show why it's a good team in Europe. Since its loss to H2k and tie with Vitality earlier in the split, it's hard to argue it's better than H2k or G2.

12. H2k Gaming

Record: 3-3-0 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +3

H2k Gaming has continually improved over the last few weeks and are cementing themselves as second to G2 Esports -- with only a small margin in between the two teams. This week, H2k tied with G2 and crushed Vitality, while in week two it also took a series win over Fnatic. It's hard to argue that H2k is not the second best team within the region based off current results.

13. Ahq e-Sports Club

Record: 2-0-1 | League: LMS | +/-: no change

It just doesn't get any easier for ahq e-Sports Club, as the team continues to be a mere shell of its former self. While the team's victories over Midnight Sun were convincing, the wins were hardly impressive. Ahq continued to look lost against Flash Wolves, being unable to match them well in the early game or fall back to their general 5v5 strength. At the very least, Westdoor has shown some prominence on mage carries in recent games so that's always a good sign.

14. Afreeca Freecs

Record: 3-5 (6-8) | League: LCK | +/-: -4

We know Afreeca are good, we just don't know how good. The surprise of last LCK's playoffs, the Freecs were ousted in the wildcard round by the Green Wings and the loss was credited to the team's inexperience. With some playoff games, a new season, and the team on a roll since the second half of the spring split, the summer was supposed to be the time for the Freecs to take the next step. Now at 3-5, it's been an inconsistent campaign so far, losing to some teams a playoff team shouldn't be losing to, but also handing SKT T1 and Faker their biggest blowout loss in history.

15. Team EnVyUs

Record: 5-1 (10-5) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +5

Unlike TSM and IMT who seem perfectly in sync the first three weeks, NV is still trying to piece everything together. The rookie club has proven itself a threat with a 5-1, yet Team Envy would still be undefeated if not for missteps in the late-game. If the team can tighten its late-game shot calling and become more decisive around critical objectives, Envy could become the first non-TSM/C9/CLG team to make a NA LCS since Good Game University all the way back in season three.

16. Game Talents

Record: 5-2 (10-6) | League: LPL| +/-: +17

With wins over Team WE and LGD Gaming last week in the first week of cross-group play, Game Talents is cementing itself as the third or fourth best team in China. The victory over Team WE wasn't expected, but shows that Game Talents has legs and strength to stand on. It should beat I May this week convincingly and continue to rise in the rankings.

17. Cloud9

Record: 4-2 (10-7) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +7

How many games are these guys going to play this split? Compared to last season's 18, C9 and a lot of other teams in NA are on pace to play more games this split than they did all of last year. The best-of-three format could be what Cloud9 and other NA teams need to be ready for the shark infested waters come the World Championships this fall.

18. Team WE

Record: 4-3 (11-8) | League: LPL | +/-: -8

Team WE's week was much rougher than expected. It took losses to the hands of group A's Game Talents and Snake Gaming, the latter far more surprising than the former. This makes group A seem stronger than group B, something that most analysts and experts considered to be flipped. For now, Team WE looks like middle of the pack in China.

19. J Team

Record: 2-1-0 | League: LMS | +/-: +3

While it was expected that J Team might go through this summer split as the exact team that lost steam in spring, there certainly have been some improvements thus far. Against HKE, J Team was faced with deficits both games and managed to bring it back both games despite falling behind in gold and towers. In general, the real power of J Team is its ability to rally behind any of their carry players, but its general team play when it comes to the 5v5 teamfights can still use work.

20. Samsung Galaxy

Record: 5-3 (10-7) | League: LCK | +/-: -16

Could Samsung be coming back to earth? The loss to SKT T1 has sent the former world championship club back to the middle of the pack, and Rookie of the Split leader Ruler is starting to have his first issues on the professional stage. While SSG are almost certainly inline for a playoff spot if it can keep afloat due to the bottom five's struggles in the LCK, the expectations for the team might have gone from a possible final appearance versus SKT T1 to hoping for a possible wildcard victory over the likes of Jin Air before losing to the Korean Big 3 of SKT, ROX, and KT.

Middle of the pack

21. MVP

Record: 3-4 (10-7) | League: LCK | +/-: +6

Don't look now but MVP are making strides as a rookie squad. After dropping a few series at the start of the season due to poor late-game decision making, the former OGN winning organization has bounced back to put itself in striking distance of a playoff spot. Beyond is emerging as the next great Korean jungler, and the rest of the starters on the MVP roster are currently Challenger on the Korean ladder. As long as the team continues to iron out its shot calling, a top six placement isn't out of the question.

22. Hong Kong Esports

Record: 2-0-1 | League: LMS | +/-: -5

Hong Kong eSports gets bumped down after its loss to J Team last week, proving that while there is a wealth of talent on the roster -- synergy is a work in progress, as well as jungle proving once more to be a weak point. The duo of Jeong "Raison" Soobin and Lam "Gear" Kwok Wa continues to be menacing, but it doesn't matter when there is still clear miscommunication around objectives in the mid game. However, it's still early in the season and there's still a lot to hope for this roster, as HKE is known for starting a bit slow.

23. Splyce Gaming

Record: 1-2-1 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +5

Splyce continues to remain at the middle of the pack. It took down Giants Gaming in a pretty convincing fashion but fell flat to Fnatic within the same week. The W over Giants is expected of Splyce at this point, and the Fnatic win doesn't mean much.

24. Snake Esports

Record: 4-3 (9-7) | League: LPL | +/-: -2

"Confusing" doesn't even start to describe Snake Esports week. It managed to take down Team WE later in the week, but after a loss to LGD Gaming, the team's performance came into question. No team should lose to LGD Gaming or OMG at this point and the fact that Snake and Invictus did so is really puzzling for the strength of China.

25. Team Liquid

Record: 3-3 (7-7) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +14

Now this is the Team Liquid people thought could go a long way this summer. Ever since Dardoch came off his suspension and was announced working on his issues to assimilate back into the starting five, Liquid has been on a run. After starting the split 0-3, the fourth place finishers last split are back to .500 and shooting up the ladder. The club might still lag behind the current top four in NA, however that could all change if Lourlo can keep up his massive improvements in the top lane on the likes of Irelia.

26. FC Schalke 04

Record: 2-2-2 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +9

Like Splyce, FC Schalke 04 is a middle of the pack team, around fifth-seventh place. Schalke took a loss to Fnatic as well, while taking a win over ROCCAT, which may come as a surprise to many with higher expectations of ROCCAT.

27. Vici Gaming

Record: 3-3 (6-7) | League: LPL | +/-: +9

Vici only played one game this week, which was the loss to Newbee. That bumps Vici down a bit in the rankings, and brings to question the strength of the team. A team that has DanDy and Easyhoon should surely perform better, but it's not done so this season, and that's likely a result of its supporting cast.

28. Longzhu Gaming

Record: 2-5 (6-10) | League: LCK | +/-: +14

The Dragons of Longzhu are looking better since its terrible start to the split, though, even this early in the split, it could be too late to change things around. The top five of SKT/ROX/KT/JAGW/SSG looks solid in terms of playoff positioning, and the rookies of ESC Ever and MVP are only going to get better as the season chugs along. This supposed dream team at the start of 2016 might quickly turn into a relegation candidate if things continue on the path its going.

29. Machi 17

Record: 1-1-1 | League: LMS | +/-: -4

Machi continues to slingshot between hot and cold when it comes to its play. Sometimes the roster is incredibly decisive over snowballing specific parts of the map and destroying teamfights, but sometimes it completely flops in the early game as well. Nearly losing to XG this last week is a bit of a problem, but it doesn't hold too much weight in the grand scheme of things.

30. Apex Gaming

Record: 3-3 (8-8) | League: NA LCS | +/-: -4

It's hard to place Apex when it comes to the global rankings and North America in general. Ray might be one of the most explosive rookies North America has ever come into the league, and that's great and all for Apex except for when its star player can't get going. When Ray performs, Apex can challenge any team in the league. But when he's stopped early or his Jarvan IV signature pick is neutralized, the team finds itself in trouble.

Struggling

31. I May

Record: 3-3 (8-6) | League: LPL | +/-: +7

I May also only played one match this week in cross-group play. It took a win over Saint Gaming, which literally means nothing to anyone in China. Saint looks atrocious so beating them doesn't earn a team much merit. For now, I May remains around the same place that it has been as of late.

32. ESC EVER

Record: 2-5 (5-10) | League: LCK | +/-: +4

At 2-5, there isn't much to talk about when it comes to ESC. It's a rookie club with some nice pieces that can contend with the mid-table and bottom teams in the league but is getting smoked by the elite squads. In the most difficult region in professional League of Legends, being a good team isn't going to cut it. ESC are good, but most of the teams above them are simply great.

33. Counter Logic Gaming

Record: 2-4 (6-9) | League: NA LCS | +/-: +4

Could this be where CLG wants to be? The two-time defending champion has always loved playing the underdog role, and it isn't going to get any better than where they sit now. 2-4, Huhi criticized after every game he plays, and the team not doing well in the current meta. After being ranked as a top five team worldwide coming into the season, it was hard to fathom the reigning kings ever getting disrespected ever again. Yet, here we are.

34. Newbee

Record: 3-3 (7-8) | League: LPL | +/-: +7

Newbee's win over Vici Gaming this week certainly makes it look better than expected, and falls in line with the trend that group A looks strong in general. Newbee still brings a lot of performance questions to mind, but nonetheless, the win was a good one. Newbee has the potential to be great; it's just all about executing that properly.

35. Team ROCCAT

Record: 1-3-2 | League: EU LCS | +/-: -16

Team ROCCAT took two losses this week that it shouldn't if it wants to be taken as an upper middle of the pack team. Losing to Origen, who's had internal issues all split, and then FC Schalke 04, ROCCAT looked pretty bad this week.

36. Giants Gaming

Record: 2-0-4 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +4

Giants Gaming had a decent week, similar to Vitality. It managed to beat Origen, while losing to Splyce, who is expected to be better than it is for the time being. NighT and Maxlore both have improvements to make, especially after NighT got smashed by young European talent Sencux's Fizz in their first game.

37. LGD Gaming

Record: 2-5 (5-11) | League: LPL | +/-: +9

LGD took a win over Snake this week, which should give LGD fans a bit of hope. Maybe, for once since last last summer, the team can prove to get back on its feet. It's got the talent; it's just never performed well as a team since the off-season in October through December.

38. Invictus Gaming

Record: 2-5 (7-11) | League: LPL | +/-: -7

One of China's strongest teams historically had a rough week, with losses to Royal Never Give Up -- which isn't a surprise -- and to OMG, the latter which should definitely not have happened based off predictions. Invictus looks like it has a lot of work to do, as OMG has looked like one of China's worst teams while competing in group B.

39. Vitality

Record: 1-3-2 | League: EU LCS | +/-: -4

Vitality had a mediocre week last week, taking a win over Unicorns of Love and loss to the hands of H2k Gaming. Vitality is likely worse than ROCCAT, Schalke, and Splyce currently, but that shouldn't rule out the possibility that it could improve and be better than those teams. Vitality has a lot of work to do, especially in its AD carry position.

40. NRG Esports

Record: 1-5 (5-10) | League: NA LCS | +/-: -8

NRG just can't find any rhythm in its play. We're three weeks into the season, and while I wouldn't outright say they've been terrible, I wouldn't use any positive adjectives to define NRG's play. Ohq and GBM, the two Korean imports expected to carry the team, have been disappointing, and the mixed-language miscommunication is obvious in their play.

Bottom of the barrel

41. Midnight Sun Esports

Record: 1-0-2 | League: LMS | +/-: +2

The sun did not set on MSE this week, as it proved to still be the best lower tier team with a decisive 2-0 victory over Team Mist and some decent moves against ahq e-Sports Club. The team's prowess in the lane-swap and Chen "M1ssion" Hsiao-Hsien's generally great performances bode well for the lineup going into future weeks. The overall talent level of the lineup is enough to sneak into top five and future matches against HKE and M17 will prove to be quite important for its standings.

42. CJ Entus

Record: 1-7 (4-15) | League: LCK | +/-: -13

It's official: CJ Entus are cursed. BDD was supposed to be the savior of the club, but the only thing he's saved so far is the money his team's fans don't have to spend for playoff tickets. Kramer has fallen off a cliff following an amazing start to his tenure on CJ. Haru and Bubbling have been disappointments in the jungle. Untara, while talented, hasn't been the type of game changer CJ needs. The team's lack of strategies and diversity in compositions has left it toothless in attack.

43. Origen

Record: 1-2-3 | League: EU LCS | +/-: +1

Origen's week of results is extremely confusing and shakes the standings by a significant margin. Its win over ROCCAT came at the hands of good performances across the board, but jungler Amazing had a really good week all-around. But then in its loss to Giants, top laner sOAZ had uncharismatic bad games. Origen also still needs to find a permanent AD carry that isn't mid laner and owner xPeke.

44. OMG

Record: 1-5 (3-11) | League: LPL | +/-: +4

OMG's first game cross-group was an upset victory over Invictus Gaming. That could mean good things for OMG, who have struggled to find their footing in the past few weeks. OMG has a lot of issues to fix still -- but the win definitely shows there is hope for improvement.

45. Echo Fox

Record: 1-5 (3-10) | League: NA LCS | +/-: -2

This team needs to turn it around sooner rather than later if Rick Fox's club wants to stay clear of relegation. Head coach Cop parted ways with the team before the fourth week of play, and this decision will either make or break the Foxes for the summer split. Either the change in personnel will fix the issues within the team on Summoner's Rift, or it'll be a band-aid which is quickly torn off to expose even bigger issues with the starting five.

46. Team Mist

Record: 0-0-3 | League: LMS | +/-: -9

Team Mist proved to show two halves to its current team dynamic this week, running both Shen "Rins" Po-Ju and Ko "K" Kai-Sheng in the top lane. The difference was night and day, as the team was utterly confused with Rins easily overpowered by MSE. However, behind the shotcalling of K, it muscled the early game against Flash Wolves and stayed close in gold well into the mid game. Team Mist hasn't been able to cut a win yet, but the aggression is still there and it just might cut a split against Machi next week.

47. Unicorns of Love

Record: 1-0-5 | League: EU LCS | +/-: -2

The worst team in the European LCS is Unicorns of Love. A team which has been consistent despite roster changes in the previous years now looks awful, with only one win over a broken Origen earlier this split. But nonetheless, Unicorns needs to figure out things with its new members, Move, Exileh, and Veritas if it wants to improve.

48. Phoenix1

Record: 0-6 (2-12) | League: NA LCS | +/-: -1

Pray for 1 win? Phoenix1 in our hearts? The consensus pick for last place in NA LCS has lived up to its billing thus far, and the road doesn't look any easier looking at the rest of the schedule. In a split where there are arguably more good teams than ever in North America, Phoenix1 is a hodgepodge group of individuals that can't keep up with the rest of the pack individually or as a team.

49. Saint Gaming

Record: 0-6 (2-12) | League: LPL | +/-: no change

Arguably the worst team in the League Pro League, Saint Gaming took a loss at the hands of I May, who most guessed was a better team. Nothing's changed for Saint Gaming. It still looks like a bad team -- and that's probably not going to change.

50. eXtreme Gamers

Record: 0-0-3 | League: LMS | +/-: no change

It's unfortunate how much of a disappointment that eXtreme Gamers has been so far, but a team can only get so far with only one reliable carry player. It was great to see XG take control against Machi late in its first game, but disheartening to see a throw happen right outside of its opponent's base. XG got rightfully thrashed the next game and depending on its performance against MSE next week, may very well go win-less this split.
