10:40pm That will be all from us for this game. If you missed out on any of the action, Firdose Moonda's report should have you covered. Until next time, from Gnasher, Ranjith and myself (Shashwat), this is goodbye. Take care, folks!
Dewald Brevis, Player of the Match: (On having the highest score for South Africa in men's T20Is) I have not really thought about it, but extremely grateful. Just happy we won today, great to be out here on the winning side. To celebrate that final wicket - that was the ultimate (feeling) today. You want to win, so be able to come back strong after the first game is fantastic. Everyone played their part. We took our catches, bowlers nailed their plans, and good to see it all (pan out). They (the Australian batters) are great players, they hit the ball hard and over the ropes, so we have to be on it, especially in this format. We played well today, so that's great.
Aiden Markram, South Africa captain: Nice to take it to the third game. You always worry after going 1-0 down that the third game might be for nothing. Great to get the win. (On Brevis) It was up there (with the best). The boys were just down there laughing. He hits it miles, quite a freakish display tonight, quite chuffed that the world got to see what he can do. He has played a lot of T20s around the world - he is still quite young, he will only get better. We know they (Australia) would come really hard. Holding nerve and sticking (to your strengths)…it is T20 cricket at the end of the day, so credit to the guys for holding their nerve (and executing).
Mitchell Marsh, Australia captain: (On Brevis) He mistimed quite a few sixes tonight (smiles). He is a young, powerful man. Upcoming player in international cricket and well played to him. Chasing that down was going to be tough. We needed a few partnerships early, could not do that.
10:28pm At the half-way stage, it felt like a steep run-chase, and so it proved to be. Australia did give it a rattle, with their top four coming hard at South Africa, and David impressing again with another half-century. But once he fell in the tenth over, Australia struggled for continued impetus, with Maxwell also perishing soon after. Owen could not get going either, and with SA holding on to almost all the chances that came their way, the result never seemed in doubt thereafter.
Speaking of the visitors, they will be pleased with their bowling display. They had to contend with lots of dew, but found a way to be effective. Their plans also seemed much better than Australia's, not to mention their top-notch execution, and they now have given themselves a shot at sealing a series win in a couple of days' time.
