Richard A: "After 96 runs in boundaries... I reckon the skipper's gonna tell Brevis he hasn't had to do much running around, and send him out to cover sweeper to do his share" -- Ha! Although boundary-hitting does take its toll on the body too!
8:28pm Wow. What a knock that was from Dewald Brevis, and he broke several records in the process. Numbers, though, might never be able to do justice to the purity of most of his stroke-play tonight. Some of the shots he hit, especially down the ground, were a sight to behold and his ability to hold his shape and go through the line stood out, especially as those around him struggled for consistent rhythm.
Australia will feel they offered up a few too many boundary balls to Brevis. But they will, going back, also appreciate the quality of stroke-making they were up against. Hazlewood, so often their bank, went for 56, with Zampa also shabbier than usual, and that probably sums up their bowling display. Thankfully for them, they have batting cavalry of their own, and if dew plays a big part, especially on what is looking like a decent track, they will feel they can chase this down. Gnasher will be back in a bit for the start of the chase!
